Coffee Day

It’s a shame this didn’t land on Coffee House Friday!

But today is National Coffee Day!

Actually I’ve had to cut out all caffeine from my diet, so I don’t drink coffee anymore 🙁

So I live through everyone else!

Favorite brews?  Types of Coffee?  Do you have your own Coffee Spot in your home?

Sylum Inspiration: Allan Quartermain

Ghost/Darkness: Second-in-Command

Allan Quatermain doesn’t talk much about his life before he set foot in Africa.  He won’t even mention his real name.

What he will tell you, is this: Some strange little Shaman looked at him, yelled out some weird words, wiped paint across his cheeks and forehead and told him, ‘You have the Spirit of Africa in you.  As long as you stay on her soil you will be immortal.’

Two days later the tribe he was with were attacked, and he was Turned by Anok Sabe.

Sylum Top Ten – 15th Anniversary: Bonus Question #15 (Part 2)

Bonus Question: This was the opportunity to ask me questions.

The second main one I got was:  Which order should the series be read?

That weirdly wasn’t an easy question!  Sylum has a timeline that is about 7000 years … not including ties to universes and peoples before the time of Earth and storylines building further into the future.   So we don’t have an exact timeline within the series.

Stories also have a tendencies to have flashbacks into past decades, centuries and sometimes further, hence when we list stories in the archive we have the timeline showcase:  Set in 2007 with flashbacks to 1890  or something similar.

Now for the best way to read the stories to make some sort of sense 🙂

Clan Location: Medjai

Clan Medjai, the oldest Clan in the series.

Though the image and main location is labeled as Cairo, truthfully no one really knows exactly where the main location for the Medjai are located.

Being the oldest Clan, they are securly hidden away in the deserts of the Egypt.  This is how they’ve kept an ancient society a secret along, with old artifacts.

Those who have lived and been a part of the Medjai know how to get to the Oasis, the rest will they have to know someone.

Of course there’s the few who tease others with the concept that … one most walk into the desert, when can’t walk anymore, keep walking and when collapse of exhaustion hope the Medjai find you.

They do have establishments outside the desert.  The main one being in Cairo.  Plus secondary homes in Morocco, Libya, and on the West Coast of Africa.

Sylum Inspiration: Will Turner

Sanctuary: Second-in-Command

Will was raised by his mother in England and believed his father was a respectable navy man in the Royal Navy. When his mother died, Will began searching for his father, the only clue he had of him, was a gold medallion he had sent his mother.

The ship he was on, had been raided by Pirates, he was the only survivor.  It was being rescued by the HMS Dauntless from the burning shipwreck, that Will first met Elizabeth Swann.  Upon arrival in Port Royal, Will Turner became a blacksmith apprentice under John Brown.  As a simple craftsman, his life revolved around his work, and his distant longing for a woman he knew could never have.

When Pirates raid Port Royal, Will set out to defend the town and try to get to Elizabeth.  He was attacked by members of the raiding party and is run through.

As he lay dying in the street, he was approached by Hector, who offered him a new life.
