Sylum Inspiration: Richard Beauregard

Serenity: Member

Richard Beauregard comes from a long line of Beauregards, that date back to the famous Confederate General. The family has always been based in New Orleans, and because of this he’s known about Vampires most of his life.

Richard ran the family Shrimp Business. But after Hurricane Katrina, then the oil spill, he was losing money fast. He invested in a crab boat, and headed up to Bering Sea. He knew Nico had contacted Mal to let him knw about the rookie Captain.

Rookie Captain was right.

Richard ended up in a dangerous situation and if it wasn’t for Liefr he wouldn’t have made it out of it alive. He was so thankful the other Captain was everything all the rumors had said and should up to pull his crew off the ice flow.

Serenity/Oceania: Member

James has been a fisherman his entire life. Born and bred, it’s in his blood and he’s brought his family into the fishing business with him. But fishing in the Bering Sea is rough, and it can be costly-not only for your boat, but for your life.

He lost his wife to cancer, six months after she gave birth to their son, Stephen. James spread her ashes at Sea, then took his six month old out crab fishing. James raised his son on the Calico Sky, educated him with a unique style and teaching him to be a fisherman.
James became fast friends with fellow fisherman Liefr Nordman and Randolph Andrews. It wasn’t long before he figured out both of their secrets. The introduction to Captain Jack Aubrey confirmed all of James’ suspicions.

James was approached by Wayne Studios to work on a new show, featuring their life Crab Hunting. At first he was hesitant, but after meeting the producer Frank Hurley, he agreed to allow them on board the Calico Sky.

A strong friendship was struck with Frank Hurley over many hours in the Wheel House, and when a Rogue wave broadsided the Calico Sky, injuring James, there was no doubt in James’ mind the answer he would give Hurley.

Heath was born a fisherman. His father was a fisherman, his grandfather and so forth. He always knew he would be a fisherman. He remembered his mother crying when his father’s ship the Cosntant Vigil had gone down, all hands lost at sea. He remembered her crying when he stepped on his first boat.

He couldn’t tell her that he was called to the sea.

There was no other place for him but on the deck of a ship.

Heath started off as a greenhorn on the North Star. He had admired Liefr, her Captain, and wanted to study under him.

Liefr was an asshole. Rode his men hard. But he always kept them safe and brough the catch in.

It wasn’t until he got extremely sick, when he discovered the truth about Liefr. He had a cough before going out to the Bering Sea, by the time they were half way through their set it turned to phenomia.

Liefr didn’t give him much of a choice, and Heath took the opportunity presented.

She was recruited out of the Marines into NSA, from there she ended up working what she would discover ‘relevant numbers’.  When they decided to retire her, she was recruited by John Reese.

It took her less than six weeks to figure out there was more going on than two idiots working to help people.  When she confronted them about the lack of a heart beat they tried to work their way around it, she pointed out she does have a medical degree.

She didn’t have an interest in being Turned, didn’t see the point.  Until a Number went bad, and she lay dying and Joss gave her the opportunity.

Serenity: Legal Advisor

Connie’s goals in life were to be a wife and mother. It’s all she wanted to be. She met John O’Mara while at Church. He was sweet, treated her with respect, and adored her. They were married a year later.

Her only disappointment was the fact she couldn’t get pregnant. They tried for many years, until John finally sat her down and told her that he loved her not that she could give him children.

They settled into their life. John promoted to Sergeant in the LAPD, and she helped with the local Catholic school, teaching young children.

Then they were blessed at the worst moment in time.

She became pregnant when John built the ‘Gangster Squad’ to go after Mickey Cohen. She loved her husband, but he wasn’t the most brilliant strategist. She helped him pick out his team, and when she met James Hickok and Noah Dixon, she instantly trusted them to take care of her husband. Part of it was because Jimmy looked so much like her husband when he was younger, just with longer hair.

It was Jimmy that had taken care of her. When John got to close to Cohen they called a hit on her. It was Jimmy who saved her. He got her out of the front rooms and into the bathroom. When she went into labor he didn’t panic but stayed with her, helping her give birth to her son.

They both knew something was wrong when she wouldn’t stop bleeding. Jimmy then confessed what he was, and how he knew her. That she in had taken him when he was a young hot headed kid and made him into the man he was today.

Connie wouldn’t deny her boy.

Turn Date: 1787 AD

Sire: Malcolm Reynolds

Mate: John Henry

***

Paul’s family is from the French Canadian, he knows it ties directly back to France, and he’s pretty sure straight to the Good King. He was the youngest son out of 12 siblings. He was also the largest. By the time he reached puberty he was already pushing 6 ft.

He left the family farm at sixteen, moving around the Canadian wilderness. He quickly earned a reputation as a lumberjack, able to knock down a tree in one swing.

Paul never one to settle down found himself in New Orleans, when a call went out for removal of trees to begin building a small town. He presented himself to the foreman and was hired instantly. He liked the community that was building, but was curious about the Plantation that was funding the efforts.

Paul had laughed lightly when he surprised Malcolm, the Foreman, with his philosophies and the fact he was educated. The two found a quick friendship, enjoying the bantering and snark.

At a harvest festival that the Plantation had put on, he was called to compete in the Axe competitions. One of the lumberjack’s lost control of the ax, sending it towards the crowd. Paul stepped in and took the blunt of the impact.

He finally discovered what was going on at the Plantation.

When Mal moved to Canada to build Serenity Clan – Paul followed.   Once settled he became one of Mal’s Hunters.

What does it mean to be a Clan Hunter?

Basically exactly what it sounds.  Paul would be assigned either by the Lead Hunter or the Head of Security to hunt down a specific person, rogue, or even scout out location to check if it’s secure.  Hunters also get assigned guard duty for high ranking Clan Council or even visiting Vampires.
