Sylum Head Canon: *look here for a moment*
Parts of Sylum Canon has just been erased.
Going to give it to you straight.
Clan War has been a pain in the fucking ass for a variety of reasons.
* It’s had fits and starts all the way through
* No one wanted to cooperate
* Everyone wanted their five seconds
* And a plot point in it that I’ve never liked slammed us against a wall
Add in RL work projects, burn out, and taking time off to work on the book – Clan War has been a long tedious pain in the ass.
So before I get into Sylum Canon that has been erased some back history:
I’ve never truly liked Greg has the soul of Theo, Nico’s youngest. When Sylum began there were a small array of characters to work with and I had no idea where at the time the ‘story’, as it was only supposed to be one, was going. As the storyline developed and the amount of early fans that pushed the Greg/Gil pairing – Greg ended up with the Soul of Theo or at the time he was called Philipe – DO NOT ASK.
I went with it, worked with it, but was blah about it. As the series progressed and we started into the 4th Arc, the more Greg began to disappear into the sidelines because I didn’t like the character or his role – to the point there was serious contemplation of killing him off.
Then we started on the re-writes.
On the list of things we wanted to change was Greg, after a lengthy discussion we concluded at the time that ‘it’s just to stuck as head canon for us to change it’.
And we moved on.
All through CSI: Anthology I cringed in writing Greg … don’t get me wrong I like Greg, just didn’t like him in this role. And as Gil’s story, changed and developed through the Anthology it was obvious they had to be De-Mated as it really wasn’t working. So I had at least got part of the problem ‘fixed’.
Cue Clan War and the never ending saga of trying to get this particular story finished, as we worked through the story – Greg was no where near the battle with Richelieu and the flow of the story had him being Turned at this moment instead of later Arcs … and again I found myself going *hmmm* death is an option.
Then something happened.
Bob tossed an idea so outrageous that it took us by surprise. We sat at the table pulled out a box of Krispy Kreme Donuts and hashed it out, though it was working it wasn’t quite right. Then one of his minion bunnies, obviously hyped on sugar, tossed the last idea out and suddenly it all fell into place.
The results of that new story idea changed Sylum Canon.
Basically it comes down to this.
*Look here please*
Greg Sanders no longer has the Soul of Theodosius Scipio Meridius. He has no ties to Nico in that regards. He is a Chosen One who’s family has been Chosen Ones since the Ice Age. He was raised in and out of the Manor, stayed summers through his childhood, friends with Ellis, and was encourage to follow his dreams into Science. He’s Nico’s friend and has ties to Warrick in a past life. But he NO longer has the soul of Theo.
And while we’re changing Head Canon!
Sam Winchester now has the Soul of Theo.
But.
But.
He’s Meridia?! Is there not going to be a Meridia?
Yes there is a Meridia, that has not changed and you will meet Meridia, at some point.
That’s all I’m saying at the moment.
So again Sam Winchester has the Soul of Theo. Basically his story doesn’t change, Nico will still be very happy to see his youngest boy come home. Dean just can’t tease Sam anymore about being a girl.
Before you ask! The CSI: Anthology series has been updated to reflect this, as a matter of fact Playing with Fire has been removed from the Archive as it’s not longer Canon. The full series – including the two stories that were posted with the 10th Anniversary Clan War has been edited and uploaded to the Sylum Archive.
A second note! All 10th Anniversary Clan War Stories has been moved to the Archive, they were adjusted slightly if need be and given a final edit before being posted. All future stories will be posted to the Blog and then posted to the Archive.

Sylum Inspiration: Ben Wade
Serenity: Lead Hunter
Ben doesn’t talk much about his childhood. He was nine years old when he was left behind on a dock in Plymouth England, by his mother. Ben realizing he’s been abandoned sneaks onto the next boat heading to the New World. He stays hidden for three months, only having the family bible to read.
When he arrives in New York, he sets out to find his mother, only to get swept up by officers and sent to an Orphanage. He plays the game and stay’s out of trouble.
Reading about a new opportunity in California, he sets out with other seeking a new life. He found some gold during the ‘Gold Rush’ enough to sustain himself.
Ben moved around the frontiers area, riding just above the law. It’s not until he finds himself in Boulder, Colorado. He found himself a saloon, settled in for a game of cards, flashed some gold around.
His only memory of that night is the green eyed girl.

Sylum Advent 2016: Sign Ups – Last Call
Yes it is that time again.
Advent is just around the corner, I’m not even sure where the year went. No really I’m not.
I’m again sending out the call, *poking*, pleading, COME ON GUYS! There are over 1000 characters in the Sylum Wiki, not all of them are being used in stories or have stories. Join us crazy people who do this every year! Write a story, doesn’t have to be epic, small time stamp is good. Produce artwork, either drawn or digital – could be for characters, a particular story, clan, Bob. Fanmix – put together a list of songs for a character, story or clan.
There are many great opportunities to participate!
What is Sylum Advent?
Sylum Advent s is our Annual Winter Event. It will start on December 1st and go through to Boxing Day, December 26th. It will focus on Sylum Stories, but we also accept Sylum Art, fanmix, and videos. It’s not uncommon to see stories that are set up that will relate to major Arcs.
What do you need to do to participate?
You will need to sign up and state what your interested in doing.
REMINDER: All Sylum Stories will need to be approved by Bj Jones – It’s not difficult to work with me for storyline. I’ll be honest it’s best if you focus on stories that aren’t attached to main characters being used in Arcs or stories by other authors. Sylum Inspiration: Lilith Sternin
Knight: Psychologist
Lilith’s father was a Psychologist, he was very strict and made sure the family followed his rules perfectly. When her mother killed him, Lilith knew fate was a bitch.
She grew up in the orphanage, while her other siblings were adopted. She refused to talk about what happened to her family, and kept her father’s strict rules.
She left the orphanage, went to school, and got a degree in Psychology, even after being told she couldn’t cause she was a woman.
She married, though it only lasted a few years.
She became very successful in her private practice, never babying her patients and telling them like it is.
When she ended up with a patient who thought she was Macbeth, she only blinked and asked about her relationship with her father.
Years later, Gruoch Macbeth offered her a lifetime of learning. The only condition was she would need to work with her Clan.
Lilith, humoring her, met her at her home, only to realize the castle was filled with delusional and crazy people.
She took the job.

Throwback Thursday: Roads Not Taken
Recently I was on the phone talking with a friend, and in mist of the conversation, old opportunities came up. It brought up how different life would be if these opportunities were taken.
The one that stuck in my mind the most was an opportunity for me to take a job across the country. This would’ve changed my life drastically. I would’ve been away from family and anything I knew. They didn’t want to pay my asking price or relocation, so I turned it down. I ended up joining a Yahoo Group soon after that, and started writing some of my first fanfic – which will never see the light of day EVER! *shifty look* Six months later I met the Ex, who introduced me to CSI … a year and half later – Lost Son was aired.
The say the rest is history.
Because of Sylum I’ve met some of the most amazing people. Made some awesome friends. Had grand gathering adventures. But the most important thing Sylum brought me was my soulmate, who I married.
Sylum has given me the opportunity to write in ways I never felt possible, to the now wonderful adventure of being published, something I never would’ve thought possible all those years ago.
I look at my life and despite the drama, the trauma, and the what the actual fucks – I wouldn’t change it for anything.
So thinking back onto that moment fifteen years ago … I’m thankful I didn’t take that road. Because I really don’t want to think about the what if – Sylum had never been born.
And with that. I send my thanks to all those that have followed this road with me. I send my love to those who have touched my life – you know who you are. And most importantly I can never thank God enough for bringing my spouse into my life.
