What is your favorite drink when you’re reading?
Title: The Proposal
Author: Bj Jones
Summary: Warrick’s had it in his pocket for a while now ….
Author’s Note: This was slightly mentioned in the New Orlean’s Chronicles – figured be a good idea to repost it.
Special Author’s Note: This has been updated to fit new Sylum Canon!! So you’re in for a treat!!
It’s already March!
*blinks*
Yeah time is flying by.
How’s everyone doing? Reminder I’ll need your material by March 25th so I can prep everything for Spring Fling.
This a secondary Poll to see how many are interested! At the moment we’re at 9 people, and to be honest that isn’t enough to make having a Sylum Con into a reality. If you have previously voted yes or no, please do not vote again.
As a reminder …
If we have one it will be in Los Angeles, likely around Octoberish 2019. We’ll need at least 20 people interested, and by interested I mean truly plan to go – not just oh sounds like fun but can’t really make it. There will be a Con Fee to cover expenses for conference rooms, events, etc. At this early in the game we’re not sure what that will be, but it would likely start at $100.
As Cons like these are a lot of work, I’m starting this early! Please fill out the poll below to showcase if you’re truly interested.
San Lin was raised between Tokyo and Brazil. She loved either being in the jungles of Brazil or the Forests of Japan, learning new things. She worked her whole life to become a Biologist. Some of her early heroes was Robert Campbell and his work with ants.
She met Houston Brooks when he ended up her lab partner while she attended Yale. He asked her out for coffee at the end of the semester. A year after dating she took him home to meet her family, and though they didn’t like that he was an American, they appreciated he was good to her.
Six weeks after they graduated they were married.
After their first year of Grad School, Houston went to study on a six week expedition in Australia. She had an internship working at a bio tech firm called Dali Moon. When he returned her life was changed.
He told her about Vampires and that he had been Turned, and she was his Mate. After a long of discussion, they decided to finish their degree before going to Australia.
Once they settled in, Houston Turned her and they were Mated.
One of the main goals we have at Sylum is to add more woman, persons of color, and native/aborigines characters. Especially historical figures around the world that may not be known to a lot of people.
Pocahontas is likely a very well known Native American figure in history.
Her story has a lot of myth inside the reality, good and bad. We had debated in adding her, due to the myths/disneyfied versions of who she was. But well we don’t shy from controversy … so she was added and Mated to Immutef – most would think that was an odd chose, until you start to see how that storyline progresses.
Amber Midthunder is the Native American Actress we use to play the role in Sylum.

Between Advent, Nicolaus Weekend, and everything else, it’s bee a while since I’ve been able to update my old fics.
Good News!
All stories are up, the last of the Horatio/Speed stories have been uploaded.
Next up: CSI
As we’ve done a few of these ‘Appreciation’ Events on a specific character, group, and coming soon, family line.
Who would you like to see an ‘Appreciation’ Event for?
In honor of International Woman’s Day – a Throwback Thursday to a character story, showcasing Jane Rizzoli.
As we’ve mentioned before – Linkin Park is pretty much the Sylum Soundtrack.
Steve Aoki who does a lot of remixes of their work is like the back up Sylum Soundtrack.
In the recent Sylum Fanmix: Adventure of a Roman, there are 4 Linkin Park songs and one Remix with Steve Aoki.
So yes these guys have a big place in Sylum, and will continue to in Chester’s memory.
On that note – here are three different videos of three very different songs – that inspire upcoming segments in Sylum

What is left out of the history books, is the fact while Pocahontas was in England, she met Gwenhwyfar. The two bonded quickly, and when Pocahontas became ill, she came to her side and asked if she wanted to be Turned.
She decided that this was her next journey.
Knowing she could not stay in England or return to her people, she seized the adventure and left to visit the oldest of Vampires to learn more about different cultures and tribes.
She soon became great friends with many of the Medjai tribe, and found her Mate in Immutef. They both have related to how their lives and names have more myth than reality. She decided to stay with the Medjai, swearing loyalty to Ardeth. With help from Scheherazade she wrote her peoples stories and language down.
Today she works in education, teaching children about all cultures and is an adamant speaker for aborigine, first nations, and native rights.

Quick Note: It would seem that the blog had posted an autosave that didn’t actually have anything in it. Sorry about the delay from epic tech fail.
Oh one last thing…
Yes there will be a new George Eads character coming to Sylum.
No it’s not the Jack Dalton from MacGyver.
