Sylum Inspiration: Arthur Pendragon

Camelot: Clan Leader

Born Arthur Aurelianus in 7 AD, Tintagel, England, the illegitimate son of Lady Igraine.

A strong and intelligent boy, he grew up working the land, teaching himself to read and write to better his status and position.

At the age of 12 he swore allegiance to Utha Pendragon ‘Chief Dragon’, Tribal Elder of the Southwestern Britons and Cornish Celts, taking his mentor’s name.

Arthur was Turned in 43 AD by Utha Pendragon during the Battle for Maiden Castle in Dorset, after sustaining life threatening injuries while facing the army of Vespasian.  The Romans were invading Britain and the tribes of the West and South gathered to defend their land at the great hillfort.  Utha was beheaded by a Roman soldier shortly before Maiden Castle fell to the Romans, leaving Arthur to defend himself, and in time to defend his country as the fabled ‘Once and Future King’.

Sylum Inspiration: Paul Mallory

Camelot: Member

Paul’s family was originally from Poland.  His grandmother, fled with her husband and children, to England in 1936.  She talks about the regret she felt leaving behind her sister, her husband, and son, all who had perished at Auschwitz.

He was in college when he was recruited by James Bond into MI:6.  His gifts in languages, and the ability to crack any safe gave him a skill set they could use.  He rose up the ranks in MI:6 and is now a Double O Agent.

(Dilios Note: Not that I’m supposed to know that)

He became friends with Charles Evan, who at the time was a Veterinarian student, needing a place to stay.  Paul always gone, offered his back bedroom, to the student and over time the two became friends, despite the arguments over the menagerie of animals in the house.

While on a Mission he was severely wounded and he still wasn’t sure if he gave consent to be Turned, but in the end he accepted his fate as one of M’s boys.

Sylum Inspiration: Master David

Camelot: Member

David doesn’t talk about his time before he was handed over to Lord Beringar.  His family line is from Scotland, and that is about all he’ll say.

He was given to Hugh in a card game when he was 15 years old.  Hugh took him under his protection, and with help from Cadfael explained that he wasn’t needed to warm his bed.

After Cadfael ‘died’, and the three returned to Camelot, David began to flourish under the tutleage of the Clan.  He soon became friends with Harold who taught him about the pleasure of sex, instead of the power play he had been under.

It was through his friendship with Harold and John, he decided to use his knowledge to help others.  But to do this, he needed to be Turned so he went to the only man he ever saw as a father.

Sylum Inspiration: Arianne

Camelot: Member

Arianne was raised as a Picts, until she was marked and cast out of the tribe because of her abilities with herbs.

The scar along her face was warning to all those who saw her that she was a witch.

She made a home in the forest, wanting nothing to do with her tribe or the foreigners.

She doesn’t know how she was Turned, just that she was attacked one night and ended up one of the undead.

Sylum Inspiration: Callum Lynch

Camelot: Hunter

(To keep with this month’s theme, introducing some of the new Male Characters)

Callum was raised with his twin brother Aguilar at Masyaf.

They’re parents were Assassins, the little they knew of them, was that their father, Sebastiano was from Spain and their mother, Brigit, who was from Ireland.  Their father was trained at Masyaf, who on a mission, fell in love with Brigit, brought her back and trained her.  The two had been killed during the Spanish Inquisition, a year after the boys had been born.  They ended up raised by the Assassin Order, and trained to follow in their parents footsteps.

When they set out on their own missions, Callum went to Ireland, while Aguilar went to Spain.

Callum kept a low profile, finding an a small farm owned by the Lynch family, they took him in, and became the son they never had.  When they died he took over the farm, and used it as a hiding place and information stop.

During one of his own missions, he heard about Il Duce and the vendetta he seemed to be on. He made sure to casually meet him in the pub, only to discover his own mission.

The two became friends, and in time Callum knew the next step was to be Turned.

Il Duce gave him a new life.

Sylum Inspiration: Evie Frye

Camelot: Hunter

After being Turned, Jacob and Evie were sent to Masyaf, and then to Egypt with Proximo.

It was there that they learned skills to enhance their natural fighting styles.

When they returned to London, they took over Nico and Sherlock’s job of protecting the City.  A few years later, Jayadeep was sent to them for training.  They thought it ironic, but took him in no less.  Evie knew the kid (despite the fact they were the same age) had a small crush on her, but she made sure he understood her preference didn’t lean towards men.  They ended up good friends.

Leading to her Turning him, when he was mortally wounded.

Evie was glad to have Guin in her life, not having had a woman’s influence since she was young.  The two became firm friends, and if ever needed, she guarded the Queen.

She also took to Galahad, the two becoming friends who enhanced each other’s youthfulness.

She knows Jacob stays more aloof to other Clan Members, his loyalty strictly for Nico, she can relate as she has a soft spot for her Sire.

Rumor has it she may have had a child before she was Turned, but this is only hearsay.

Sylum Inspiration: Wilhelmina ‘Mina’ Harker

Camelot: Hunter

Wilhelmina was the second daughter of an aristocratic English family. She taught herself to read, write, and calculate numbers, making sure she knew how to take care of the house for her family.  Her father, though he never openly admitted it, was quietly proud of her and wished on many occasions for her to have been born a boy.

She met Jonathon Harker at her best friend’s wedding. He was the youngest son of a smaller noble family, and was rumored to be quiet and odd.  Nevertheless, she fell for him instantly.

Mina was the one who showed up at his house and demanded that Jonathon Court her.  His family, eager for him to get out of their house, did not object.

They were married soon after.

A few years into their marriage, Jonathon was requested to travel to Transylvania to deliver papers to Count Dracula concerning a land purchase in Essex. When he didn’t return, she set out to find him.

Dressing as a man in order to secure her safety on such a long voyage, she made her way across the Channel, then through Europe, following leads and trails left by a group of others all heading in the same direction.

When she arrived at Count Dracula’s Castle, she marched straight to the front door and demanded her husband.

The MacManuses

Camelot Hunters: MacManuses

Connor and Murphy are twin sons to Noah and Meagan.

To this day they still do not know who was born first.

When their father disappeared, accused of murder, their mother found work in the nearest Abbey.

Both boys lived a life of prayer and in good works to the Lord, educated and raised by the Monks, until as teenagers they saw first hand what their mother was enduring for their protection.  She died giving birth to another child, the bastard son of the Abbot.

The two boys in a fit of righteous anger, attacked the Abbot, killing him instantly.

Seeking some sort of justice for both their parents, they found themselves in Rome, and fell into studying for the Priesthood – seeking safety for themselves as well as their family name.  It was Father Kiernan who introduced them to Il Duce, but only once they had been Ordained.  He offered them a life to help those who could not help themselves, to do God’s work and cleanse the wicked from the face of the Earth.

(Dilios Note: it’s not known when they figured out Il Duce was their biological father)

Noah was amazed at their abilities, and proud when they surpassed even his own skills.  The two worked in perfect motion, their movements fluid, in complete sync with each other.

He Turned them soon after their introduction.

Sylum Inspiration: Noah MacManus

Camelot: Lead Hunter

Born in Ireland, Noah was the the son of Jacob MacManus, and apprenticed to him as a tanner.  He took over his father’s business as his skills grew, expanding it as his reputation as an expert leather worker spread even beyond Ireland, and across the water to England.

He married Meagan, the girl from next door, whom he had known since they were mere children, and they settled into a good life that promised great prospects, which were only enhanced when she bore him twin sons.  The boys were Baptized, Connor and Murphy.

Six months later, the newly installed Archbishop of their Diocese, stopped into the shop demanding work to be done for his new home.  He had heard of Noah’s reputation and wanted only the best work, offering a vast sum of money for the rapid completion of all requested items.

Unable to refuse, Noah crafted the leather work for chairs and other furniture, as well as for personal goods such as purses and bags, and when the Church refused to pay, claiming the work was shoddy and inadequate, Noah killed the Archbishop’s secretary in a fight.

Knowing he would bring harm to his young family, even if he tried to explain his actions, Noah fled for his life.

He wandered for many decades, angry at the world, and seeking justice that seemed utterly unobtainable given the power of the Church, he finally came to Rome, and meeting Father Kiernan changed more than just his outlook, but his purpose in life.

He would later attribute Kiernan to giving him the path he needed to follow. (Dilios Note: Kiernan stated later it wasn’t quite meant the way Noah took it, but as God does not make mistakes…)

That was when the name Noah MacManus disappeared and Il Duce was born.

For many centuries he was also known as Lachtna – which in Irish Gaelic means ‘milk-colored’ as reference to his hair, and was used for a certain degree of intimidation as the same name is said to have belonged to an ancestor of Brian Boru.

No one is quite sure about all that Noah actually accomplished in his human life, but the tales live on to this day.

Il Duce then met the real Brian Boru.
