Sylum Inspiration: Carlos Oliveira

Lealta: Hunter

Carlos grew up in England and Israel. His mother was an Irish woman, who was teaching school in Israel, where he met his father, an Israeli diplomat. The two married despite negative reactions from both sides of the family.

He was born in Israel, where he attended school and was brought up in the Jewish faith. When his father’s request to be assigned diplomatic status to the UK came through, Carlos was transferred to a private school in England. Where he learned more about the Anglican church.

His coloring and looks had him mistaken for many nationalities and the fact he spoke a dozen languages had him recruited by a variety of organizations, including the Mossad. Carlos did his two years as an Israeli citizen, then was recruited into Interpol by Inspector Javert.

(Dilios Note: Carlos talks about the fact he had laughed when they were introduced, little did he know he was Inspector Javert)

His reputation to be able to go undercover to a variety of Terrorist organizations had him infiltrating Black Moon.

In it he discovered that there was more going on than just terrorists. Carlos found himself strapped to a medical table and experimented on, and at the end of it he was Turned Without Consent.

Sylum Stables: Razi

We’ve been introducing you to many aspects of the Sylum Universe, including the animals that live at the Manor.

This is Razi, he’ll be seen more in upcoming stories.  He’s a Black Arab, and a pain the ass.  He’s called Razi, because Nico had found the first one in Rome, during the 16th Century, about the time Ezio found Ironhide.  He was a wild, high strung Black Arab, that he stole from the Borgias.  The Stallion reminded him so much of his Razi from Rome: stubborn, fiesty, and always giving him grief, hence the name.

The Razi in the barn is a few generations past the original, but he’s still stubborn, fiesty, and only lets Nico ride him.  Warrick usually has some comments about Nico’s ‘Stallions’, but he saves that for private company.

Coffee House Friday: First of 2017!

Welcome to Coffee House 2017!!

***

I wanted to quickly reiterate that as we go into the New Year, and for some, a year of uncertainty – that Sylum Blog will always be a place to retreat too – whether is just to forget the real world, need a place to hide for a few moments, or just be with friends.

We’ve got some plans for the upcoming year to have sylum goodies through out the year, besides the 3 major Sylum Events.  Plus we’re working on putting together a place all can come and hang out.  In edition to the normal every day shenanigans we get up to!

Throwback Thursday: Nicholas J. Finch – Conversations in Real Time

It’s a New Year and while I’m working on the next book, I wanted to take the moment to push the first one!  I’m still trying to get to 100 sales – we’re almost there!

So I’m here asking y’all for your time and help.  If you’re read the book – please leave a review where you bought it.  Just take a few seconds to write out a few words – seriously this will be more helpful than anything.   You can also leave a quick/note on the Nicholas J. Finch Page here on the blog – so when people get referred to it, they can see comments/reviews instantly before clicking the links.

I’ve also noticed a few hits on goodreads – if you have an account add the book to your list and give it a quick review or star rating!

If you haven’t bought it, now is a good time!

Conversations in Real Time:

Beginning with a series of emails sent back and forth between the UK and the USA, this novella is the story of how two men, one a Los Angeles detective and the other an Oxford research student, find themselves drawn to each other despite leading very different lives on opposite sides of the world.

Their relationship starts with a professional offer of assistance and through instant messaging, texting and phone calls they invade each others’ lonely and yet busy days, learning about themselves and slowly falling in love as they discover they both need something from the other until they finally get a meeting face to face and can get up close and personal.

Sylum Inspiration: Éomer

Lealta: Lead Hunter

Éomer was a son of the House of Eorl and the nephew of Chieftain Theoden. He was the son of Theodwyn (sister to Theoden) and Eomund, and the twin brother of Éowyn. When he was only seven years old, his father was killed in battle and his mother died of grief. Éowyn and Éomer were raised in his uncle’s household as if they were his own children.

Morgana had sent her spies, and the most famous only known as Wormtongue, had tried to persuade Theoden not to send his famed Horsemen to Arthur’s Aide. Éowyn exposed his lies and accused of him of inappropriate behavior. Éomer threw him off the castle battlements, killing him instantly.

When Chieftain Theoden discovered the deception, he sent his famed Riders Rohan under the leadership of his nephew Éomer, to help Arthur Pendragon in his struggle with Mordred. In the battle he discovers his sister hiding as a soldier, when he sees her fighting Morgana. After she gives the killing blow, he runs to her aid, when Mordred tries to get revenge. Before Mordred could raise his sword, Éomer thrusts his sword between Mordred’s shoulder blades, effectively gutting the King’s enemy.

After the battle and subsequent ‘Death of Arthur’, Éomer encourages his sister to go to the Queen’s side, to help her with the loss of the King. She returns to his side a day later, persuading him to talk to the King’s Second in Command, Lancelot. Trusting his sister, he goes to Lancelot to discover the truth about his King and Queen.

A year later, he is Turned on the same day as his sister.
