Author’s Note: So this is about 4 times the size of the original … maybe 6.  There’s more history of the bad guys, with an added new one.  Speed’s internal monologue through his capture is epic snark.  You will also get more history of Tony’s time in Damascus and his Turning.  Along with the backstory to Nico’s Turning.

There has a lot of history for Nico, Tony and Speed.

Also a quick note: You’re also being introduced to story threads that will be very very important in later stories.

Seven Days of Summer – 2016: Sign Ups

 

It’s that time of year again!! We’re taking sign ups for this years Seven Days of Summer.  I’m putting out the challenge like I did for Spring Fling.  There are 1015 Characters in the Sylum Wiki Blog – take out the ones you know have major storyline or wrapped into major arcs etc… that still leaves about 815 Characters that have no stories written on them.  These characters are all over fandom, and they spread across history – so its a pretty good guess there are a few of you who could tackle story and/or art for these characters.

The main writers of Sylum have a lot on their plates mapping major arcs and stories.  We can’t tackle a majority of characters in other Clans.   So I’m callin’ y’all out.  Take up the challenge – sign up for Seven Days.  Browse the wiki, find someone you’re interested in.  Email me (sylumclan@yahoo.com) and we can discuss story and plot.

What is Seven Days? 

Seven Days is our Annual Summer Event.  It will focus on Sylum Stories, but we also accept Sylum Art and fanmixs.  It’s not uncommon to see stories that are set up for future fics or Timestamps that relate to stories from Advent.

Start Date this year will be July 1st.

What do you need to do to participate?

You will need to sign up and state what your interested in doing.

REMINDER:  All Sylum Stories will need to be approved by Bj Jones.  If you’re interested in doing a Sylum Story contact Bj (sylumclan@yahoo.com).  DO NOT write the story then send it, the story will likely get rejected and you would have to start all over again.  So email Bj first!!!

Sign Ups close May 1st.  If we do not get your request, by the 15th it will not be included.

Is there a deadline of when the Fic/Art needs to be Finished?

Sylum Inspiration: Liang Hongyu

Shogun: Hunter

 

Liang Hongyu:  Liang’s father was an army commander at the frontier, from where the Song Dynasty was increasingly threatened by the Jurchen-ruled Jin Dynasty. He taught her martial skills. Liang’s feet were not bound. She was a master of martial arts. Several accounts stated she was a woman with incredible strength and a master of archery.

At certain point in her career, she met her husband Han Shizhong, though accounts differ on exactly how they met. The most believable version is that she met Han at a banquet where she was entertaining the troops that Han led. Han had led his men in crushing a rebellion in southern China, and Han had personally arrested the rebel leader Fang La. However, his superior stole his credit, much to Han’s displeasure. Liang knew the truth and admired Han’s victory. She saved enough money to pay her own redemption of slavery. After she was free, she became Han’s second wife.

The Jurchens soon started the total invasion on the Song Dynasty. Han formed an army to fight the Jurchens. Liang worked as a general in her husband’s army.

She is not sure how her history ended before her husbands, yet it continues in in the same way. She was devastated like him that their friend Yue Fei was ‘executed’ for treason. When he was the most loyal.

She was as shocked as her husband when Fei showed up and explained to them about how he was Turned. Her husband was Turned, and soon after he Turned her.

Over the weekend I gave everyone at Sylum a homework assignment!  We’ve gotten some awesome, fun, and adorable Sylum Powerpuff Characters.

I’m sending this out as a reminder – to take a moment and Powerpuff your RP Character or if you don’t have one … pick a character out of our very vast Sylum Wiki!!

Sylum Inspiration: Nathan Algren

Nathan Algren is C0-Leader for Shogun Clan.  Nathan and Katsumoto have a unique relationship and the problems with arise with Nathan being from the West.  Because of his position in the Clan, Nathan’s bodyguard is Colonel Wales, though he drives him insane, Nathan has come to rely on the burly Meridius on many occasions.

The only true dark time Nathan had with his new home, was during World War 2, when he along with Kensei, Niccolo, Marco and Wales were betrayed and handed over the Japanese Military and taken to concentration camps. It’s something that bonded the five of them together, but they rarely talk about it. Though they did wish the destruction their Mates caused was recorded.

Sylum Assignment: Powerpuff Yourself

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away …. wait wrong fandom!  Let’s try that again.  Many years ago when we were on the Yahoo Groups – there was a time you can make your own South Park Characters – many people had fun making Sylum Characters into South Park Style.

Last night the Powerpuff Yourself started up … so I thought – ohhh lets try this!

So I’m calling Y’all out!  Follow this link Powerpuff Yourself – if you have an RP Character make an Avitar for your Character.  If you don’t pick a Sylum Character – we have over 1000 Characters!!!! And make an Avitar.  As wordpress won’t allow images to be posted to replies *glares at wordpress*  Please send them to (sylumclan@yahoo.com) and we’ll post them for all can enjoy … make sure to label the character, clan their from etc…. just in case … especially since we have some actors play multiple characters.

Speed has already had some fun and totally Powerpuff Mr. Finch and Mr. Reese and we can’t forget Bear!

Introducing a New Page:  The General’s Office

Recently I was inspired to write something that wasn’t Sylum related. Shocking yes I know.  Speed of course fed the bunny, poked and prodded until the story was actually written.  Truthfully it’s been nice to step away from the Vampires for a while – especially when I realized it’s been over 4 Years since I wrote anything that wasn’t Sylum related!

The simple story turned into a series.

Wait.

Wait.

Yes it would seem that I can’t write anything simple.

Which left me with a dilemma.

Where the hell do I post it?

Livejournal: Okay so I haven’t used it in a while. I dusted it off, opened it up and wandered around the empty halls. This could work. Then quickly remembered what it was like to post anything over a certain size.  *eyeroll* and moving on…

Tumblr: Yeah no. No really. No.

A03: Hell fucking no. Why many of you would ask? Cause I despise their attitude, their politics, and the entitlement of some of the people on it.

So in the end it came down to well… I do have this blog.

And The General’s Office was born.

Basically anything new being written, for example this new series called Dragons of Interest … will be posted there.   And what do you know the first chapter is already posted!!  So step on over to the General’s Office, grab some Sencha Tea, sit and enjoy a new story from Bj Jones … while waiting for Nico to shut the hell up!

Sylum Inspiration: Jane Porter

Ghost and Darkness: Archivist/Librarian

 

Jane Porter was raised by her father, her mother died when she was young. Her dad took her with him, where ever he studied or taught. Also took her on expeditions around the world. He was criticized for not training a young lady eligible to get married.

His thought was she didn’t need to conform. Her husband had to be good enough for his daughter.

He always made sure she had a proper education and thought for herself.

When they traveled to Africa, she was thrilled to see a new place. When they had met John Clayton she felt a pull to him. When he told them his story, she was awed by his strength and courage. She didn’t want to return to America, but she wasn’t sure if she was welcome in Africa with him.

She was depressed when they got home, her father worried about her. She was about to tell him she was going back to Africa when John showed up looking for her. It was then he told her everything.

She traveled back to Africa, was introduced to the Clan and instantly overwhelmed. It was Tess that saved her and had a long conversation about what would be expected of her and what it was like to live in Africa.
