Sylum Information: The Centurion

The Centurion is actually a good movie, so we do recommend watching it.  You’ll be surprised who’s in the film!

It was obvious through the whole film, that Arianne and Quintus were Mates, though working the what, whens and hows were typical Bob being an asshole.

So all these years later, they still live in the same area, working the land and staying out of everyone’s way. He teasingly calls Arianne his Witch, she just rolls her eyes.

Oh and typical Bob … who Quintus really is … is a whole different story *cackles*

Sylum Teaser: The Russian Spy

During Nicolaus Meridius Weekend, we posted the first part of the 3rd part of the Westen Series which is a major turning point in Sylum.

The full story will be released for 7 Days … pending RL batshittery of epic.

But because I’m a kind hearted soul *coughs* evil general.

A tiny tiny teaser.

This was a day of reckoning.

One he never thought would come.

And once again.

Nico’s enemies underestimated the quiet unassuming Roman.

Mistook kindness for gullibility.

Compassion for softness.

Mercy for weakness.

He was dragged once again upwards, to look his killer in the eyes.  He had no voice left to scream, when he felt the blade slam upwards into his chest, barely inches from his heart.

Sylum Inspiration: Arianne

Camelot: Member

Arianne was raised as a Picts, until she was marked and cast out of the tribe because of her abilities with herbs.

The scar along her face was warning to all those who saw her that she was a witch.

She made a home in the forest, wanting nothing to do with her tribe or the foreigners.

She doesn’t know how she was Turned, just that she was attacked one night and ended up one of the undead.

Sylum Information: King Kong

So first off … no we don’t have Kong.

Raptors – down the line, but not King Kong.

So why the image?

With the recent additions added to the wiki – four of them were from the King Kong: Skull Island.  In typical Sylum fashion we twisted the story around to fit our needs.

Still not having Kong.

Why?

Well there is a reason for that.  Let me tell you a tale about the monkey that wouldn’t die.

This was a while back, while I was still with my ex.  I had come home with a 102 temperature (I’m not even going to mention the fact I had to go to work sick for some stupid ‘team bonding’ experience) so you can imagine I’m not in the mood.  All I wanted was my bed.

But was that in my future.

NO!

Ex dragged me out to see King Kong … the remake with Jack Black.  I was tired, sick and just plain miserable – this movie is 3 hours long.  All my fever addled mind could focus on was the simple fact – when the monkey dies the movie is over and I can go home.

So through the whole movie – yes all 3 hours – I just kept repeating in my head – ‘Die Monkey Die’.

Needless to say I do not have fond memories of that film.

When we recently watched Skull Island, I was seriously disappointed that I didn’t get Samuel L. Jackson in all his crazed glory screaming ‘Die Monkey Die’ it was ripe for it – it needed it … such a potential moment lost.

And this is why we won’t have Kong – unless I purposely build a story – just so I can kill the Monkey.

Poll: Sylum Con? Take 2

This a secondary Poll to see how many are interested!  At the moment we’re at 9 people, and to be honest that isn’t enough to make having a Sylum Con into a reality.  If you have previously voted yes or no, please do not vote again.

As a reminder …

If we have one it will be in Los Angeles, likely around Octoberish 2019.  We’ll need at least 20 people interested, and by interested I mean truly plan to go – not just oh sounds like fun but can’t really make it.  There will be a Con Fee to cover expenses for conference rooms, events, etc.  At this early in the game we’re not sure what that will be, but it would likely start at $100.

As Cons like these are a lot of work, I’m starting this early!  Please fill out the poll below to showcase if you’re truly interested.

Sylum Inspiration: San Lin

Oceania: Member

San Lin was raised between Tokyo and Brazil.  She loved either being in the jungles of Brazil or the Forests of Japan, learning new things.  She worked her whole life to become a Biologist.  Some of her early heroes was Robert Campbell and his work with ants.

She met Houston Brooks when he ended up her lab partner while she attended Yale.  He asked her out for coffee at the end of the semester.  A year after dating she took him home to meet her family, and though they didn’t like that he was an American, they appreciated he was good to her.

Six weeks after they graduated they were married.

After their first year of Grad School, Houston went to study on a six week expedition in Australia.  She had an internship working at a bio tech firm called Dali Moon.  When he returned her life was changed.

He told her about Vampires and that he had been Turned, and she was his Mate.  After a long of discussion, they decided to finish their degree before going to Australia.

Once they settled in, Houston Turned her and they were Mated.

Sylum Information: Pocahontas

One of the main goals we have at Sylum is to add more woman, persons of color, and native/aborigines characters.  Especially historical figures  around the world that may not be known to a lot of people.

Pocahontas is likely a very well known Native American figure in history.

Her story has a lot of myth inside the reality, good and bad.  We had debated in adding her, due to the myths/disneyfied versions of who she was.  But well we don’t shy from controversy … so she was added and Mated to Immutef – most would think that was an odd chose, until you start to see how that storyline progresses.

Amber Midthunder is the Native American Actress we use to play the role in Sylum.
