Sylum Head Canon: *look here for a moment*

Will-Smith-Helps-You-Forget-In-Men-In-Black-Device-Gif

Parts of Sylum Canon has just been erased.

Going to give it to you straight.

Clan War has been a pain in the fucking ass for a variety of reasons.

* It’s had fits and starts all the way through

* No one wanted to cooperate

* Everyone wanted their five seconds

* And a plot point in it that I’ve never liked slammed us against a wall

Add in RL work projects, burn out, and taking time off to work on the book – Clan War has been a long tedious pain in the ass.

So before I get into Sylum Canon that has been erased some back history:

I’ve never truly liked Greg has the soul of  Theo, Nico’s youngest.  When Sylum began there were a small array of characters to work with and I had no idea where at the time the ‘story’, as it was only supposed to be one, was going.   As the storyline developed and the amount of early fans that pushed the Greg/Gil pairing – Greg ended up with the Soul of Theo or at the time he was called Philipe – DO NOT ASK.

I went with it, worked with it, but was blah about it.   As the series progressed and we started into the 4th Arc, the more Greg began to disappear into the sidelines because I didn’t like the character or his role – to the point there was serious contemplation of killing him off.

Then we started on the re-writes.

On the list of things we wanted to change was Greg, after a lengthy discussion we concluded at the time that ‘it’s just to stuck as head canon for us to change it’.

And we moved on.

All through CSI: Anthology I cringed in writing Greg … don’t get me wrong I like Greg, just didn’t like him in this role.   And as Gil’s story, changed and developed through the Anthology it was obvious they had to be De-Mated as it really wasn’t working.   So I had at least got part of the problem ‘fixed’.

Cue Clan War and the never ending saga of trying to get this particular story finished, as we worked through the story – Greg was no where near the battle with Richelieu and the flow of the story had him being Turned at this moment instead of later Arcs … and again I found myself going *hmmm* death is an option.

Then something happened.

Bob tossed an idea so outrageous that it took us by surprise.   We sat at the table pulled out a box of Krispy Kreme Donuts and hashed it out, though it was working it wasn’t quite right.  Then one of his minion bunnies, obviously hyped on sugar, tossed the last idea out and suddenly it all fell into place.

The results of that new story idea changed Sylum Canon.

Basically it comes down to this.

Will-Smith-Helps-You-Forget-In-Men-In-Black-Device-Gif

*Look here please*

Greg Sanders no longer has the Soul of Theodosius Scipio Meridius.   He has no ties to Nico in that regards.  He is a Chosen One who’s family has been Chosen Ones since the Ice Age.  He was raised in and out of the Manor, stayed summers through his childhood, friends with Ellis, and was encourage to follow his dreams into Science.  He’s Nico’s friend and has ties to Warrick in a past life.   But he NO longer has the soul of Theo.

And while we’re changing Head Canon!

Sam Winchester now has the Soul of Theo.

But.

But.

He’s Meridia?!  Is there not going to be a Meridia?

Yes there is a Meridia, that has not changed and you will meet Meridia, at some point.

That’s all I’m saying at the moment.

So again Sam Winchester has the Soul of Theo.  Basically his story doesn’t change, Nico will still be very happy to see his youngest boy come home.  Dean just can’t tease Sam anymore about being a girl.

Before you ask!  The CSI: Anthology series has been updated to reflect this, as a matter of fact Playing with Fire has been removed from the Archive as it’s not longer Canon.  The full series – including the two stories that were posted with the 10th Anniversary Clan War has been edited and uploaded to the Sylum Archive.

Link to CSI: Anthology

A second note!  All 10th Anniversary Clan War Stories has been moved to the Archive, they were adjusted slightly if need be and given a final edit before being posted.  All future stories will be posted to the Blog and then posted to the Archive.

All other references will be updated as we go through the rest of the series as there are a few ‘canon’ adjustments needed for a variety of reasons.  If side stories get updated first – we’ll post a Throwback Thursday to showcase these stories!

The Matrix has now been reset

Conversations in Real Time by Nicholas J. Finch

Their relationship starts with a professional offer of assistance and through instant messaging, texting and phone calls they invade each others’ lonely and yet busy days, learning about themselves and slowly falling in love as they discover they both need something from the other until they finally get a meeting face to face and can get up close and personal.

This particular chapter of Clan War has been a problem child.

Between Bob.  Bob 2.  Everyone who is in the damn Chapter.  Bob.  Bob 2.  Warrick.  Bob.  Bob 2.  Nick.  Bob. Bob 2.  It’s been one of those pain in the ass chapters that is never ending and mocks you – all at the same time.

Sylum Story: Re-work in Progress

madnessorbrilliane

It’s been one of those things, I knew with all the additions and updates this particular series would have to be looked at.

I’ve been avoiding it – for obvious reasons.

Due to a weekend of OMG  Bob REALLY!  It would seem now is the time.  As these changes will need to be shown for other stories.

And I’m not going to mention a certain character who inserted himself into storyline where he didn’t belong … and for once I’m not actually talk about Reese *snorts*.

No panic!  The originals are not being removed – they’ll stay in the Archive until this is done.

POTC

Lately with Bob off on a tear.

And working on putting all the story threads into the right places to set up future events.

If you’re wondering what this image is.

It’s the cover to my book.

Yes, I actually did it.  I took the leap into Published Fiction.

I will say it hasn’t been easy.  There’s been a lot of blood, sweat and tears.  There’s been frustrations and joy.  But in the end from the support of those who love me and God’s Blessed Grace … here it is:

There are over 600 of you that follow this blog, and I know there are much more of you that follow Sylum.   I’m pretty sure y’all came here because you enjoyed the story, the universe that was created.  I’m hoping you will now follow me into this new world and help support me in this endeavor.   There isn’t a lot of Gay Fiction in the real world, so help me get this book out there.  Get it seen.  Spread the love.

To keep updated on what my next project will be follow the tumblr for Nicholas J. Finch

Now don’t panic.  This doesn’t mean I’ve stopped working on Sylum or other projects *pointedly looks at Dragon Reese*.  I’m not giving up on my Vampires – it’s Sylum that got me writing and has led me down this long adventurous path.  Nico’s story is far from finished.  I’ll keep writing Sylum until I die, and even past that, knowing Bob and his ability to get what he wants.

Fix-it Rant by Bj Jones

kara__s_evil_bunnies

This is why I don’t watch new shows.

No not because of the bunnies, that’s inevitable.

No because most of the time I end up wanting to shank the writers.   I could actually go full on rant about the quality of TV and Movies these days and the writers and showrunners who are being paid way to much money for shit … but I’ll hold back.

For now.

Last time a showrunner decided to take out my favorite character … yeah okay, Rory wanted to leave the show, which lets face it was a very smart idea considering the train wreck CSI: Miami became … surprise solar eclipse my ass … oh wait that would be the ranting on stupid ass showrunners and writers.

Sorry I got distracted.

Last time my favorite character died in a stupid premise (because he obviously didn’t learn his lesson about cleaning his gun after he got shot the first time) Sylum was born.

12 Years later, I find myself in a similar predicament.

I’m looking at you Person of Interest.

Don’t get me wrong the actors were amazing, even with the bad premise, they broke your heart – cause they are good at their jobs.  Writers not so much.  And don’t even give me the bullshit that this was always how they intended to end the show.

Bullshit.

Calling it.

Bullshit.

And since I’m usually the one who gets the calls to FIX-IT! after the showrunners fuck up our favorite series … I’m finding myself once again snagging characters and saving them from the stupidity!

Person of Interest – you had so much potential and so much of it was wasted.

Two amazing characters that deserve so much more than they got.  So we gave them tickets for the Sylum Bus.  The dog and detectives snuck on board along with them.   There has also been many AU story ideas running around – The Dragon series already has a few stories posted.  You have no idea how long it’s been since I’ve had other story ideas/series/fics running around – outside of Sylum.

I’m horrified, awed, and buried under fluff.

As for Sylum.  We had the whole timeline figured out, built backgrounds, even wrote their wiki page until one of them decided to kneecap their bio and demanded a different background.  Thank you very much, John Reese.  Take a lesson from Harold who graciously accepted his timeline, then promptly inserted himself into everything he could, via The Machine.

We’ve hinted at some of the story ideas a few times … and I think one of you figured it out.

So let me introduce to you:

Cjj1OEyUkAAQD7D.jpg-large

Edmond Dantès – The Count of Monte Cristo … aka John Reese

Remember those wonderful snippets you read over Advent – well most aren’t going to turn out like we expected … cause Count over here kneecapped his storyline and we’ve had to adjust a few of them.

He’s still a Meridius and we all know what Meridii do when they get a tiny thread of a story.  Pointedly looks at Nico – who still hasn’t shut the fuck up in the middle of Clan War… cause only he could pull off a Flashback in a Flashback with added sex.

Just to be an awful tease … their will be a snippet from the first story in the upcoming POI Series during Seven Days.

And for an added bonus – keep an eye out on The General’s Office … I’m really really good with AUs  – no really I am, shocking I know –  expect to see a few new stories in upcoming weeks, in between Clan War, Sylum stories, and trying not to melt in this heat.

Welcome to Sylum Clan

wallpaper_manor

Hello!  Welcome to Sylum!

Recently we’ve had newbies and some poor souls that have stumbled onto Sylum with no idea what the crazy is all about.  I figured it was time to do a ‘Sticky Post‘ to help all those who wander into the Manor, navigate around this vast universe.

So here we go.

***

If you’re new here, welcome!!  You’ve just been recommended to this vast multi-story universe, and you likely have no idea where to go or what to do.

Well first off.

Fact: Vampires exists.

Second.

Welcome to Sylum Clan.

A multi-layered, character driven storyverse.

Inspiration for the first story that effectively launched this concept, was the death of Timothy ‘Speed’ Speedle from the Television Series CSI: Miami.

His implausible and much mourned demise, led to the premise that you can’t kill someone if they’re already dead.

This quite literally immortalized him, birthing the first story Kiss of Death, and the rest just kept on growing, sprawling  across more than 7,000 years of unexpected history, and on into the future.

A few things you should know, so you can’t say we didn’t warn you *grins*.  There are 3 Major Story Arcs, and hundreds of Supplemental Stories.  These stories expand across 13 Clans, 7 Kin Clans, and showcase over 1200 Characters.

We just hit our 15th Anniversary in 2020!

In Memoriam

As many of you have likely heard about the mass shooting at Pulse a well known gay club in Orlando, Florida.  At last count it was 52 dead, another 50 wounded.

My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones, and prayers for those who were killed.

This act of terror and hate against the LGBTQ community hits home for Sylum as this series even though fictional is part of the LGBTQ Community.

There are many who would like to help but not sure how.

There is a Go Fund Me Page set up to help the victims of the shooting – Go Here

Give Blood.  If in Orlando, look for places to go to.  For those outside the area, check with the Red Cross for more information.

Give to other LGBTQ Charities and Foundations.  One I can vouch for is the LGBT Center in LA.

If you have other charities (US and/or International) that would be good – please reply we’ll add them to the list.

As always we’ll stand strong.

Love conquers Hate.
