Afternoon Fic: Dragon Rescue

It was fitting today to start back up Afternoon Fic as it is Dragons Appreciation Day!

So yes – I’m working on the next story for the Dragons of Interest series … if you have no idea what I’m talking about Go Here.  You probably should read the previous stories (if you haven’t – before starting here)

Sylum Charity: White Feather Foundation

This month’s Sylum Charity is the White Feather Foundation.

Mission: For the Conservation of Life.

Dad once said to me, that should he pass away, if there was some way of letting me know he was going to be ok – that we were all going to be ok – the message would come to me in the form of a White Feather. Then something happened to me, whilst on tour with the album, Photograph Smile, in Australia. I was presented with a White Feather by an Aboriginal tribal elder, from The Mirning people, which definitely took my breath away.

The White Feather Foundation was created for the purpose of giving a voice and support to those who cannot be heard. The tribal elders asked for my help, as I could bring awareness to their plight and to others who were suffering the same. Having had the White Feather bestowed upon me, I knew this endeavour was to be part of my destiny. One thing for sure is that the White Feather has always represented peace to me, as well as communication…

Sylum Inspiration: Emmett Brown

Sylum Clan: Emmet Brown

Emmett’s family then known as the Van Braun’s fled Germany after World War 1.  He was a young man in his early twenty’s, who found a home New York and went back to University to get a degree in Physics.

His eccentric attitude had made him an outsider in the scientific community.

He became friends with Albert Einstein one day at a coffee shop in Austria, when he was traveling European Universities looking for someone to fund his research on an idea he would later be called the ‘flux capacitor’.  Einstein encouraged to travel to Italy, where he met Leonardo.

When he discovered the fact Leo was actually Leonard DaVinci, Emmett demanded answers to his theory that Leo somehow traveled to the Renaissance Era and was the famous painter until he came home.  Leo informed him that no he hadn’t time traveled but he was DaVinci because he was a Vampire.

Then offered him the same opportunity.

Need help with finding Images

The song is Lazarus by Trip Lee

Take a moment and just watch the awesomeness of the video and these dancers!

Okay now that you’re done!  I have a challenge to put forth.

Graphic Gecko is working on a video for this song.  The problem, I need as many images of Sylum Universe Vampires either ‘dying’, ‘rising from the dead’, ‘in a graveyard’, or ‘confined below ground … injured – looking like death warmed over’.

For example of stuff I already have:

  • Nico buried alive
  • Speed on the autopsy table
  • Hannibal Smith in the Crematorium
  • The Impala being t-boned by the semi in the first season of Supernatural (yes when they were just babies)
  • Ernesto getting his throat slit
  • Morticia walking through the graveyard
  • Tony trapped in the sewers *way back in first season of NCIS*

So this type of imagery, but for every character in the Sylum Wiki!

Leave ideas here, if you have youtube links send to sylumclan@yahoo.com.

Now go watch the video again ’cause it is just that awesome!

Guest Post: Thank You Letter

Today’s Post is a Letter from Janet

The General has graciously allowed me to post this (overdue!) note regarding the Christmas Card List.

The last several years haven’t been good ones for me. I’ve been unemployed and under a lot of stress. In addition, my mother hasn’t been in the best of health and then Ineeded major surgery. Things got worse in November 2017 when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. We spent 2018 dealing with the disease: chemo, surgery and finally, radiation treatments. It was a grueling year.  At my request, each year, the General has put my name on the Christmas Card List. For the last few years, every year without fail, I have received cards from around the world and across the US.

Each and every one was read and treasured and saved. I have a pile of them on my desk – I’ve reread them upon occasion, reliving the burst of happy I got when I found a new one in the mailbox.  I can’t really express how much it meant to me to get those cards, to know someone took the time and effort to send a card to someone they’ve never met. Some of the cards contained stickers and little ornaments that brought a smile to my face. For those moments, life wasn’t so bad.

I’ve meant to say this before, but time always seemed to get away from me – but I wanted to make sure I said it this time:

THANK YOU!

To all of you – for the kind words, the good wishes, for simply being kind enough to send a card. It’s meant a lot to me.

Hopefully (please, Anyonewho’s listening) 2019 will be a better year. Mom’s recovered from her treatment and there’s no sign of the cancer spreading. There are some other issues to be dealt with, but not that. Me? I recovered from surgery and the medical condition I had was solved. So I’m hoping this will be a better year. I’ll take the warmth and joy your cards brought with me through the year. Thank you again, everyone.

Peace and Blessings to you all in 2019 –

Dr. Janet

Sylum Inspiration: Marty McFly

Sylum Member: Marty McFly

Note: We’re doing something new this year.  Instead of a Calendar, we’ll be showcasing characters that have new images this year, along with updates and edits to their bio.  These will all be characters that have not been showcased on Sylum Inspiration Mondays.

Marty was born in Hill Valley, California in 1966 to a family of Irish descent. He is the youngest of three children from George McFly and Lorraine Baines-McFly. He has a brother Dave McFly and a sister Linda McFly. As the baby of the family he never found his place.

Marty was famous for setting the living room rug on fire when he was 8.

When he entered high school his life began to change.  He met Dr. Brown who taught his science class, after finally asking why he ran away every time Marty walked into the room, Doc began to take the boy under his wing and let him flourish.  It was Emmet that realized Marty’s talent for music.

The summer before his 18th Birthday, Doc took him to Sylum Manor … telling him it was a camp for city kids.  It was there Marty met James Hickok and the two became good friends.  He was devastated to leave early, when he discovered that Biff had destroyed the family car, and he wouldn’t be able to start night classes, to help with getting into college.

On the weekend of his 18th Birthday everything changed.
