Sylum Inspiration: Ron Butterfield

Sylum: Member

 

Ron grew up in New York, his grandfather an immigrant who worked long hours to make sure his son had a better life.  Ron’s father worked just as hard, leading to Ron being able to get an education and work for the government.

He became a member of the Pinkerton Agency which was the early stages of the Secret Service.  Devastated at the loss of Abraham Lincoln he was determined to change how protection details worked for the President.

As he had started investigating exactly what happened that night, he found small discrepancies that led him to Sylum Manor, two years after the President had died – only to find Mr. Lincoln.  He demanded information, sat quietly and listened to everything not only Lincoln had told him, but also General Meridius.

He nodded, then left.

Six months later he returned, stating that if he was going to make sure another President didn’t die on his watch he needed to be Turned.  He gave Abraham a pointed look and said.  “Well Mr. President I suggest you make sure no one suffers your fate.”

Sylum Information: Night at the Museum

 

Night at the Museum is actually a fun movie.  Plus it has the benefit of having Pierefrancesco Favino in it.

We’ve actually used a few characters from this movie: Ahkmenrah and Larry Daley. Plus used the images for historical characters: Sacagawea and Teddy Roosevelt.

We’re not having the ability to ‘bring the museum to life’ but we will say the Tablet of Ahkmenrah is very important in the Sylum Universe, and there is a reason Imhotep and Blackwood want it.

Fashion Style

We have a lot fashion conscious Vampires in the Clans.  Some run actual Fashion Houses, Jewelry Designs, and Lingerie Companies.

Some haven’t quite got out of their period style clothing, while some have embraced the Steampunk Style perfectly.

And some just like their comfy clothes.

So are you trendy with fashions? Wear what is comfortable? Who gives a flying fuck what other people think I have my own style?

State of the Clan: 2018

It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again.

No seriously, where did 2017 go?  It seemed like yesterday I was working on last year’s State of the Clan Post.

So a quick recap.

We had a lot of things going on here at the Manor.

Major updates to the Wiki. *eyes Bob* who still is tossing ideas and characters our way.  No seriously, you can stop now.

Bob: *wicked chuckle and runs off*

That isn’t going to end well for me.

There was Ernesto Olivetti Appreciation Week.  When we ended up having to do major adjustments in Roads Untravelled (we had no idea it would be THAT many adjustments or TAKE that long to do it) we decided to make an event around the new updated version.  I was honestly only planning something small … but it’s Ernesto so it was go big or go home.

We then ended up with Pirate Appreciation Day.  Warrick is still wondering how he ended up with one day, shared with all the other pirates.

We had great stories showcasing our wide variety of characters, awesome artwork, and some inspiring videos.

Spring Fling 2018: Sign Ups

Yes it is actually that time!  Easter is early this year, so the call out is going out now!

Spring Fling has always been slightly different from the other Sylum Events, as it is solely focused on Art, Videos, and Fanmixes.

I’m lookin’ at all y’alls.  There are a lot of options you can do for Spring Fling: Art, Fanmixs, Aesthetics, and Videos.

There is this thing called: Sylum Wiki Blog that showcases bios for 1037 characters within the Sylum Universe.  50 of them were added just for Advent!  Let’s showcase some of these unknown characters, and give them the 15 minutes of fame they deserve.

There is only so much the main artists/writers of Sylum can take on.

You will need to sign up and state what your interested in doing

How do I sign up?

There are two ways to sign up!

– Email: sylumclan@yahoo.com – put SPRING FLING in Subject and let us know what your interested in doing

– Reply to this Post: Just reply with what your interested in doing and contact info for us to get a hold of you.

Sign Ups close February 4th.  If we do not get your request, by the 4th it will not be included.

Is there a deadline of when the Art/Video/Fanmix needs to be Finished?

Yes!

– Posts will be made through out February and March on the blog for participants can check in.

– All art/videos/fanmixs will need to finished and emailed to (sylumclan@yahoo.com) by March 25th.  For those who have drawn something for Spring Fling – please scan to jpg and send via email.

Sylum Inspiration: Larry Daley

Larry grew up in a working class neighborhood in New York.  He had always wanted to be a professional hockey player, but it never went anywhere past college.  He at first got a degree in business, and started working on Wall Street.

He realized quickly he couldn’t stand the typical 9-5 job.  So he quit to go back to school … this didn’t sit well with with his wife, who wanted more stability.

They ended up divorced and she had custody of their son, Nick.  To make sure not to lose his part-time custody, Larry decided to take a job as a nightwatchman at the National History Museum.  From that he learned to love history, and switched his degree to consider going into teaching.

He became friends with the head night guard, who was set to retire Cecil Fredericks.

It was the perfect job, that let him see his son and get his degree.

Everything changed when it was robbed and he learned about Vampires.

Sylum Information: Assassins Creed Movie

As Monday Sylum Inspiration was Callum Lynch I figured to post about the Assassin Creed Movie.  Okay first off, we changed a lot around to have the two characters fit within Sylum, mainly by making Callum and Aguilar as twins instead of ancestor/descendant.

Also we don’t have the Animus … yet *cackles*

Now for the movie itself.

As a fan of the games – the movie is shoehorned into their timeline to the point parts of it didn’t work.  Michael Fassbender did a great job as Aguilar and Callum and Jeremy Irons is always great.

I will admit I wasn’t a fan of Maria or Sofia … but that was me.

Now if you don’t know the games, the movie is a lot of fun – it has its cheesy moments and lines, but overall it was okay.

For those who have seen the movie or the video (7 Characters 7 Weeks).  You know the famous ‘leap of faith’ off the church building??

That was a real stuntman – it’s an awesome moment.

 

So yes – we do have Aguilar and Callum, but there not quite like the way you think they are.

*evil cackle*

Website Update: Art & Vids

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes on the website.

The Art Room has been updated!

The Music Room has been updated!

If you haven’t check out the Sylum Website in a while, should check it out.  We’ve streamlined it, after removing the Guest Archive.  Take a look, wander around the Art  and Music Rooms, plus check out links to the Sylum Stores.

Our Resident Artist, Taibhrigh, does a great job keeping the website updated and looking good!

Random Post: Sloths

Sloths have been mentioned before in Sylum.

Actually Sloths play a very big role in Sanctuary Clan.  The Clan runs a Sloth Sanctuary,  which was started by Stephen, along with helping take care of the local rain forest and other exotic animals.

But Sloths themselves are very special and an intricate part of Sanctuary.  I mean just about everyone knows Jack Harkness usually has a Sloth attached to him at all times, much to Spike’s dismay.

So why am I bring this up now?

For two reasons, okay three.

One: Sloths are adorable!! Look at that face!!

Two: We’ve shown Harkness takes care of the adult Sloths at Sanctuary, we’ll be showcasing soon, who takes care of the tiny little ones … wrapping them in his Cashmere Scarves.

Three: Scottish Exotic Animal Veterinarian

That’s all I’m saying about that ….

Boxing Day Results

Sorry this is late!! I was distracted with bunnies

So the winner is – Nico.

They had been annoying him for the past few days, weeks, hell months and on bad days centuries.  Don’t get him wrong, Nico loved his kids, but there were days those two were the smartest dumb asses he knew.

The past year had been stressful, and it hadn’t helped when he disappeared for six months.

Though it really wasn’t his fault.

After all it was Shep who kidnapped him, stating that O’Neill had ordered him to – Nico pointed out that Shep didn’t work for O’Neill anymore, but that didn’t seem to phase him.

The theory was, what better than to have a Roman, deal with Rome.

They had a point.

By the time he got back, all he wanted was to relax and be with his family.  Instead he ended up with John announcing his presence and Ernesto discovering about Sofya and everything that came with that revelation.

From that point , he had wanted the year to end.

Then came the disastrous Christmas Eve Dinner.

It was the first year he had all his kids together for dinner.  And it went exactly how he had thought it would.  He was still pissed at Warrick for ditching him in the middle of it.

So by the time Boxing Day rolled around … yeah he had it with his kids.

The moment he heard the ‘Papist’ ‘Pagen’ start up at 7 am, he was out the back door and in the middle of the infamous fight.

He left them both moaning on the grass, a good reminder of why they didn’t mess with their Papa.  Without a backwards glance he made his way back into the house, collected his winnings, and dragged his Mate upstairs.

Sylum Inspiration: Callum Lynch

(To keep with this month’s theme, introducing some of the new Male Characters)

 

Callum was raised with his twin brother Aguilar at Masyaf.

They’re parents were Assassins, the little they knew of them, was that their father, Sebastiano was from Spain and their mother, Brigit, who was from Ireland.  Their father was trained at Masyaf, who on a mission, fell in love with Brigit, brought her back and trained her.  The two had been killed during the Spanish Inquisition, a year after the boys had been born.  They ended up raised by the Assassin Order, and trained to follow in their parents footsteps.

When they set out on their own missions, Callum went to Ireland, while Aguilar went to Spain.

Callum kept a low profile, finding an a small farm owned by the Lynch family, they took him in, and became the son they never had.  When they died he took over the farm, and used it as a hiding place and information stop.

During one of his own missions, he heard about Il Duce and the vendetta he seemed to be on. He made sure to casually meet him in the pub, only to discover his own mission.

The two became friends, and in time Callum knew the next step was to be Turned.

Il Duce gave him a new life.
