Guest Post: Happy Birthday US Navy by Max
On October 13th, 1775 the United States Navy was founded by the Continental Congress. On that day Congress approved two vessels to be armed. Those vessels would then search and destroy vessels bringing the British supplies. Following the end of the American Revolution, the Continental Navy was disbanded but it was quickly reestablished as the United States Navy to combat the growing piracy problem on the seas. Now the United States Navy has more the 200 ships but the main mission remains the same ‘defend freedom and democracy around the world’. That mission is fulfilled in many ways we still perform antipiracy operations just like our founders but we perform them both on the seas and the cybersphere. Among the US Navy’s other main missions are to support our Marine brothers and sisters in their ground and aerial operations.
Today on the 243rd birthday of the United States Navy I ask that you send a prayer up for the Sailors. For one thing that has not changed, and hopefully with never change, is that the sea can be as cruel as she is beautiful and it is perfect.

Sylum Inspiration: Luther Stickell
Sanctuary: War Counsel
As far as records indicated, Luther appeared in the world when he was in his twenties. He was recruited out of MIT by IMF for his skills in computers and quick thinking. He is ‘disavowed’ ten years later when he confronted his Agent in Charge over information he had uncovered about an assassination attempt.
He may have gone quietly from the building but not from IMF. He continued researching and hacking into variety of programs, sometimes siphoning off money others and exposing bad business to the world.
He is recruited by Ethan Hunt to help him find the Mole within the department, playing up on his ego to hack into the one place you’re not supposed to be able to hack.
The mission was a success and Luther was reinstated into IMF, working on the same team with Ethan. He had a suspicion that something was different with Ethan, besides the manic he gets into while working.
It wasn’t until an OP went wrong that he discovered what Ethan was hiding. He watched on the monitors as everything went to shit; the Mark pulled a gun and shot Ethan before Luther could call in back up.
Then he watched as Ethan struggled to get up and attack the Mark. Clear as day on the screens were fangs and bright eyes. When Ethan returned to the room, Luther pulled his gun and demanded the truth. Faster than anything he had ever seen, the gun was gone and he was pinned to the bed, with Ethan straddling him.

The Gentle Barn rescues animals from severe abuse and neglect who are too old, sick, lame, or scared to be adopted into homes. We are sanctuary to horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, llamas, peacocks, emus, cats and dogs. Once rehabilitated, the animals help us give hope and inspiration to children with the same stories.

Update: Website & Blog
There has been some updates to the blog and the actual website.
First – The Blog:
- I’ve moved some things around in the menus, to make things easier to find especially if you’re on mobile and can’t see the sliders. So the wiki has been added to the secondary header, as well as ‘Donate/Support’ Sylum and a few links on how you can do that.
- Link to the Archive has been added to Sylum Information along with a secondary link to the old archive.
Second – The Website:
- We’ve removed the Art & Music pages as everything that was Sylum Canon was moved to the new Archive. So the only links from the main website is the: Blog, Wiki, Archive and Store.
- The Old Sylum Archive – is still active and a link can be found in the headers and on the sideline of the blog. Make note now – this will not be surviving much longer, as we are getting down to the last stories being moved over. If there is anything you want from that archive start getting it now. I will tell you this – anything labeled AU/Non-Canon on that archive will not be moved. Also any of the old Stargate and H50 storyline will not be moved as they’ve all become Non-Canon. So get it now …
