Seven Days of Summer 2017: Day 4

Title: Episode One: Discovery
Season: Shifting Tides
Authors: Gil Grissom
Pairings: Dominic Toretto/Han Lue
Rating: Explicit/FRAO
Summary: When Johnny Tran begins stealing from some of Border’s Chosen Ones, Dom, with their Clan Leader’s permission, takes matters into his own hands. What he doesn’t expect is to come face to face with someone who will change his life forever.
Author’s Note 1: Although I am doing the rewrite on my own, I want everyone to know and remember that our John Sheppard helped me write this originally, and plot it out. While a lot has changed, the spirit of the plotline has stayed the same, and I have kept some of the original work when it fit.
Author’s Note 2: The Border storylines are going episodic, with the first season, now called Shifting Tides, lasting from Brian’s introduction to 2013-14-ish.

Author’s Note: A big huggy Thank You! to The General for all the help … We won’t talk about the Bunnies that were launched with afterburners on full. LOL

The names of the full moons are taken from American Indian Moons. As someone who has the greatest respect for indigenous traditions around the world, and as a practioner of some of those traditions … I have taken a teeny bit of poetic license with the legend of the Ancient Puebloans that built the cliff dwellings in the Four Corners area of the southwest United States as they ‘may’ pertain to Anasazi (Frank Hopkins).

Sylum Inspiration: Cicero

Integridad: Lead Hunter

Cicero has always stayed close to Maximus, but kept his distance at the same time. He mostly takes care of the home and ranch in Trujillo.

He works with the horses as much as Maximus does.

The General also took time to Train him to be a Hunter specifically for Azeem, as Maximus and Quintus worked for the Council.

Wiki Update: New Look & New Characters

The Sylum Wiki Blog has a new look!!

We’re always trying to find better ways to view, sort and find things you need to enjoy the Sylum Universe.  The Wiki basically got a simple facelift, making it slightly easier to view, the set up is still the same.

NOTE: At this moment Wiki Index Page is broken, the program that runs the index hasn’t been updated to the latest wordpress.  When it’s up and running again we’ll make another announcement.  In the many time – use the SEARCH field to search for characters … we’re building an extensive index list in the background that will make things easier to find.

We’ve recently removed characters: A few were do to adjustments in their storyline, and others do to the actor playing the role ended up on the ‘oh hell no list’, pulling other characters associated to their bios with them.  We’ve also changed the image of at least one character for the same reason.

Reminder: The ‘oh hell no list’ is actors/actress that stood against the basic principles we showcase, and would probably took offense to all things Sylum, and we work hard to keep Sylum a safe place, plus lets not anger the ‘powers to be’.

We’ve also added five new characters over the past few months, though these don’t directly replace the ones removed they do added more diversity to Sylum.

Characters Removed:

Tallikut Clan:

Timothy Taylor
Jill Taylor
Brian Kenny
Justin Taylor

Image Changed:

Sylum Inspiration: Perseus

Vampire Council: Hunter

There is a lot of myth and legend surrounding Perseus’ life.

Perseus was the son of Zeus and Danaë, who by her very name, was the archetype of all the Danaans.  Danaë was the daughter of Acrisius, King of Argos. Disappointed by his lack of luck in having a son, Acrisius consulted the oracle at Delphi, who warned him that he would one day be killed by his daughter’s son with Zeus. In order to keep Danaë childless, Acrisius imprisoned her in a bronze chamber, open to the sky, in the courtyard of his palace:   This mytheme is also connected to Ares, Oenopion, Eurystheus, etc. Zeus came to her in the form of a shower of gold, and impregnated her. Soon after, their child was born; Perseus—”Perseus Eurymedon, for his mother gave him this name as well” (Apollonius of Rhodes, Argonautica IV).

Fearful for his future, but unwilling to provoke the wrath of the gods by killing the offspring of Zeus and his daughter, Acrisius cast the two into the sea in a wooden chest. Danaë’s fearful prayer, made while afloat in the darkness, has been expressed by the poet Simonides of Ceos. Mother and child washed ashore on the island of Serifos, where they were taken in by the fisherman Dictys (“fishing net”), who raised the boy to manhood. The brother of Dictys was Polydectes (“he who receives/welcomes many”), the king of the island.

More on the Myth see the Vampire Council Library.

Some of the myth is true, his mother was Danaë; his father though is unknown.  Her husband Acrisius threw mother and son into the sea, and they were found by Dictys, and only Perseus survived.  He was raised to be a fisherman, content with life, until the war between two kingdoms destroyed his home, killing his family.

He made his way to Aethiopia, where he fell in love with Andromeda.  The king offered his daughter’s hand if he was to slay the rival king, and bring back the queen’s head.  The journey faced many challenges, but when he returned he discovered that Andromeda had married another.  Legend has it he tossed the queen’s head at the family’s feet, turning them to stone.

The truth is he pretty much destroyed the city on his way out.

He set out to take up his father’s craft when he met Methos, who offered him another opportunity.
