Sylum Inspiration: Nathan Algren

Shogun: Co-Leader

Nathan doesn’t talk much about his life before Japan. He fought in the Civil War, was a decorated officer, that saw too many of his men killed.  After the war, he drank to stop the memories and barely held onto his rank and pension.

He was sent to Japan to help train the soldiers into an Imperial Army. Except they were kids and not even close to being ready to face battle. When they sent them anyway he rode in afterwards trying to save those he could.

He ended up taken by Takamori, the Shogun warrior holding back the Emperors advances. He hated the man instantly, yet felt a pull to him that made him want to do anything he asked. Takamori detoxed him, trained him, and then sent him to battle.

Nathan watched in horror as they were slaughted now under true military soldiers. He carried Takamori’s sword to the young emperor and told his story. All of it. Including what war does to a man. Showed him the honor of Takamori’s heritage.

He returned to the village only to discover Takamori was actually Katsumoto, a Vampire and his Mate.

He was Turned and Claimed that night.

Read A Book Day

Reading is as important as writing.

Read everything.

The variety of books I am usually reading at one time says a lot about me!  If you have a Goodreads account – you should follow me to see my many views on Roman History to Star Wars to LA Noir to Alexander the Great.

And well if you’re looking for something to read and haven’t picked up my books *grins innocently* go here.

Sylum Charity: Food Banks

Hunger is a major issue around the world.   Food Banks are a blessing for many communities, especially during hard times.

Feeding America is a organization with Food Banks across the US.   These Food Banks always need support whether it’s food, volunteers, or donations.   If you can donate to your local Food Bank – I’ve done both volunteer work and gave goods.  I’m amazed at how many they can feed with just a few dollars and a box of dry goods.

Feeding America

If you know any other good Food Banks in the US or International let me know I’ll add to the Sylum Charity list.

As today is actually National Day of Charity – I though I would ask … would anyone be interested if I kept a link list on the blog of variety of Charities so they can be found later?

Sylum Update: Variety of Randomness

More Updates

We’re not even going to discuss the move – lets just say it’s not going as well as expected.

Now to the updates:

  • The Read More is still not working in emails.  It’s a hassle at the moment, and hoping at some point an update will fix it.  If there is anything that sensitive – I’ll make sure to leave space so it’s not seen right off the top in an email.
  • The updates also broke the tabs and skin on the Sylum Wiki.  At this moment none of the tabs are showing for any page or bio.  You can still read the bio, and click on links but it’s one long piece of information instead of nice and neat like I had it – *grumbles at WordPress*.
  • Covid.  Sooner or later I was going to have to answer this unasked question.  Is Sylum going to deal with Covid?  No, we’re not having Covid in Sylum.  There are few events that you don’t want in the fiction you write/read to escape reality … this is one of them.  Plus it screws with my timeline – it already f*ked enough with my professional and personal life – I’m refusing to adjust my timeline.
