Character Answers: Jack Reacher

Note: Let me just say finding Jack Reacher to get him to ask this question was not easy.  The boy is excellent at staying under the radar, to the point of very little online presence.  In some ways he’s a ghost.   Benton pointed out that it makes him a good Hunter, which had us asking how did he ended up with him anyways …. After a story that took a few hours to explain – it had something to do with a soldier, Vecchio, and a sniper.

After hounding Vecchio, who did some calling and then threatening our lives – we finally got a sit down at some old rusty diner in not the safest area of Chicago to ask Reacher his question.

Interviewer: In all your ‘drifting’ around the country have you met or worked with Winchesters, or other Hunters? How’s are you escaping Gerard’s clutches?

Reacher: Who?

Interviewer: John Winchester? Or his boys Sam & Dean?

Reacher: No idea

Interviewer: They drive an Impala

Reacher: *Pause* yeah I remember a guy with an Impala … only one though.  He was eating pie and flirting.  Talked with him for a bit, thought he would be a good soldier. He had laughed and said that was his dad.  No idea he Hunted Vampires.  Didn’t even know they existed until Vecchio.

Interviewer: What about Gerard?

Reacher: *shakes head while drinks his coffee* no idea who that is, should I?

Interviewer: *shifty look* If he can find you, he’ll likely try and recruit you into the US Marshals

Reacher: I’m an MP

Interviewer: *awkward silence* so no idea about Vampires?

Reacher: *shakes head*

Interview: Have you ever met a few of our other military guys?  William Lennox, Robert Epps or maybe the Commanders? General Grant and Sherman.

Reacher: *sets cup down* Yeah I know the two.  Good Generals.  I remember them because I thought it was humorous that they were ‘Grant’ and ‘Sherman’ are you saying they are US Grant and Tecumseh Sherman?

Interviewer: *nods*

Reacher: *chuckles* they were good guys.  I remember a Lennox, tall guy – knits.  Smarter than he looks.

Interviewer: So last question …. *phone rings – an actual phone in the diner – rings*

Reacher: *gets up picks it up … nods and hangs up*  *smiles at me, grabs jacket and heads for door* Nice talkin’ to you.

Interviewer: *looks at phone* *shifty eyes* well that wasn’t to bad.

Oak Alley Plantation/Monmouth Plantation – Sylum Manor Inspiration

Everyone knows that Sylum Manor is based off Oak Alley Plantation.  To give you an idea of how big Sylum Manor really is – the above image is Oak Alley … this would be the front entrance of Sylum Manor.

But not many of you know that in the early days, Sylum Manor was also based on Monmouth Plantation.  Their grounds and gardens are the visual inspiration for many of the outside grounds for Sylum.

Sneak Peek: Pirate Rework

Sylum Teaser

Captain Jack Sparrow stood tall, looking out towards the shoreline. His destiny lay ahead of him he could feel it. Finally after all these years, he was close to getting back what belonged to him. The fates had taken pity on him, whispered a name, he had not heard in a decade.

Turner.

As he sailed into Port Royal, he bowed his head in respect to his fallen Pirate brothers. No man deserved to die trapped in a cage, pecked away by crows.

With grace and dignity he stepped off his gallant ship onto the dock, just as she sank to the bottom of the ocean.   The famed Pirate Captain made his way towards the town, moving among the sailors and soldiers, not giving them a second glance. With ease he took the purse of the Port’s Authority, and started his way into town.

Only to pause when a familiar face walked towards him, eyes narrowed as the smaller rat like individual walked by, not giving his former Captain the proper respect. He never did like him, shifty character, wasn’t trust worthy.

Jack took a few more steps, stopped, hands shifted around his jacket coming back empty. He turned on his heel and glared. His once crewmember, gave him a smirk and wave, pocketing the bag of gold coins, he had just stolen.

Never trust an Irishman, let alone one that was a Pirate.

He watched as the other Pirate talked to the workers, all smiles and friendly. Jack knew the bastard was up to something, he just didn’t know what. He gave him a last look, before making his way into town.

He needed rum.

Then he would figure out the next part of the plan.

Sparrow had found the young Turner, an adorable pup who was so dearly in love with the Governor’s daughter it ached. He wanted to take the boy aside, and tell him he was born for the sea, not for settling down and having babies.

If he wanted his ship back, he needed the young love sick Turner. So he needed a plan.

‘Step one figure out what Linus was doing on the docks. Step two steal one of the ships, preferably the one Linus was eying. Step three kidnap puppy Turner.’
