And that was the second half of the story!!

Or there’s also plotting going on!

See how The General and Speed hash out characters and story ideas!

[9:56 AM] Nico (The General): @Speed (Clan Advisor) So Bill Paxton …. how do we not have him. The great thing in Sylum is the ability to immortalize characters/actors
[9:58 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): Absolutely.
[9:58 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): We can use him a few times.
[9:58 AM] Nico (The General): So was thinking the guy from Twister …. we have some serious scientists including the one up in Tallikut the Denis Quaid guy from Day After Tomorrow
[9:58 AM] Nico (The General): What is the Twister guys name google
[9:59 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): He would have to be a modern man.
[9:59 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): Run the events from Twister.
[10:00 AM] Nico (The General): Bill Harding! Oh yeah … let the whole twister thing happen … all that info and grant money they would get attracts … okay now whats the Dennis Quaid guys name grrrrr back to google(edited)
[10:00 AM] Nico (The General): Jack Hall!
[10:01 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): It was a good movie. They get the Dorothy device to work. Their data is a real breakthrough. Things start to happen for them. Funding. Research grants. Training for newbies in the field etc. Attracts the attention of Jack Hall. Finds Bill Harding trying to restart the relationship with the ex from the film. But Jack realizes this is his Mate. Steps in.
[10:02 AM] Nico (The General): snags
[10:03 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): The storm chaser team are like WTF with this? The ex is like ohhh this is THE Jack Hall! But jack’s like back off woman, I’m interested in Bill. Bill, huh?
[10:05 AM] Nico (The General): Poor Bill … he did have that slight naivity about him.
[10:06 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): Yes he had a mix of world wearines and naivety.
[10:06 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): So focused on his work.
[10:06 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): They were right, he like very tangled character types to play with.
[10:06 AM] Nico (The General): The ex figures this out as does the team … they’re not sure if they should warn Bill or start the bets
[10:07 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): See how long it takes for Bill to figure it out… They’d be very amused. Those guys were mean but lovable all at once. And a tight group too.
[10:07 AM] Nico (The General): Jack would get the ‘speech’ a few times
[10:08 AM] Nico (The General): Set this in late 2000’s/early 2010’s
[10:08 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): Including from their Aunt…was it Aunt May? Can’t remember her name but she was awesome.
[10:08 AM] Nico (The General): I think it was Aunt May … that tribute the storm chases did ended in Oklahoma City where her ‘house’ was
[10:09 AM] Speed (Clan Advisor): That is really cool they did that!
[10:10 AM] Nico (The General): Inspiration

St Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick

We’re highlighting specific Saint Days that are relevant with in the Sylum Universe.

St. Patrick is important in many aspects of storyline – from Monseigneur Kiernen to St. Patrick of Conclave.

***

Saint Patrick was a fifth-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the “Apostle of Ireland”, he is the primary patron saint of Ireland, along with saints Brigit of Kildare and Columba. He is also venerated in the Anglican Communion, the Old Catholic Church and in the Eastern Orthodox Church as equal-to-apostles and the Enlightener of Ireland.

The dates of Patrick’s life cannot be fixed with certainty but there is broad agreement that he was active as a missionary in Ireland during the second half of the 5th century. Early medieval tradition credits him with being the first bishop of Armagh and Primate of Ireland, and they regard him as the founder of Christianity in Ireland, converting a society practising a form of Celtic polytheism. He has been generally so regarded ever since, despite evidence of some earlier Christian presence in Ireland.

According to the Confessio of Patrick, when he was about 16, he was captured by Irish pirates from his home in Britain, and taken as a slave to Ireland, looking after animals, where he lived for six years before escaping and returning to his family. After becoming a cleric, he returned to northern and western Ireland. In later life, he served as a bishop, but little is known about the places where he worked. By the seventh century, he had already come to be revered as the patron saint of Ireland.

Saint Patrick’s Day is observed on 17 March, the supposed date of his death. It is celebrated inside and outside Ireland as a religious and cultural holiday. In the dioceses of Ireland, it is both a solemnity and a holy day of obligation; it is also a celebration of Ireland itself.

Coming Soon: Ernesto Olivetti Week

Sylum Blog Presents: Ernesto Olivetti Week!

We’ll be dedicating a whole week to our favorite Italian … no not Nico

Nico: Wait! Excuse me!

Ernesto: *smirks*

Ezio: Somehow I got dissed in the middle of this!  Am I not handsome?

Nico: No one can see your face *flicks the hood*

Ezio: Doesn’t stop the ladies from loving me!

Ernesto: *eyerolls*

ANYWAYS!!

Seriously I can’t even make a post without you two taking over it.

At least the Welshman isn’t here!

*glares* Stay out of this Count of Monte Cristo

As I was saying!

We’ll be having a weeks worth of posts dedicated to …

Ernesto Olivetti Inspector General of Vatican Security!

So what will this week consist of?

Well you’re just going to have to wait and find out.

Character Answers: Eowyn

Finding Eowyn was the easy part.  Keeping up with her, not so much.

We were able to track her down after a shift at the Hospital, for a cup of coffee to talk with her, and see if she would answer our questions.

Interviewer: What is the quality you most admired in Queen Gwenhwyfar?

Eowyn: *sipped her coffee looking contemplative*  Well she was … is my Queen.  I admired her strength from the beginning.

Interviewer: What specific qualities?

Eowyn:  *sets her cup down* You have to understand that Gwen was not new to being royalty, but being Arthur’s Queen was much different than being the Princess of Wales.  She had more responsibility, and despite at times out of her depth she dove into her duties and figured out what was needed of her.

Interviewer: Was there a lot of tension in the court because she was Welsh?

Eowyn: *snorts* If anyone said anything to her face, she never said anything.  But the few times there were comments about the ‘Welsh’ taking over, they ended up being visited by her Head Guard.  Now let me tell you – you didn’t mess with him.

Interviewer: Do you two still talk?

Eowyn:  I live in Italy not another galaxy.  It was difficult to keep in touch centuries ago, but you know we have these things called phones and planes.  *the eyeroll was pretty epic* We have lunch and go shopping at least once a month.

Interviewer: Is she much different from the Queen and the modern woman of today.

Eowyn: She is the Queen, will always be the Queen.  Just because England doesn’t recognize Arthur and Gwen doesn’t make her less of a Queen.

Interviewer: *coughs awkwardly* Well … what does she think of the Lord of the Ring Series?

Eowyn: *snickers* We laugh at how men see woman in love.  My ‘crush’ on Aragorn and her ‘affair’ with Lancelot.  Seriously men’s ego always ruins a good love story.

Interviewer: So ….

Eowyn: *looks down at phone and curses* Gotta cut this short.  *finishes her coffee and runs off*

Interviewer: Thanks …

St. Davids Day

St. David is the Patron Saint of Wales, and is known for daffodils and leeks.

He’s relevant to Sylum for a variety of reasons, well in theory many of Saints and Saint Days have relevancy into Sylum.

But this one has an added bonus as having touched John Rhys’ life and future.
