Random Post: The Making of Sylum Blog

Last week’s Coffee House Friday I asked about Note Taking.

So I figured give you some behind the scenes of what it takes to work up Events like McFassy Fortnight, daily blog posts, or Advent.

First: there’s Tea.

Second: there’s the Bose headphones and music.

Third: there’s the blog notebook (as seen above) that particular shot is just a small section from McFassy Fortnight.

Yes… Yes I do have random pretties through out my notebook.  I also have stickers, washi tape, and stamps.  ‘Cause I’m five and I like pretty things while working.

Forth: there’s Tea.

Fifth: there’s usually cussing, growling, sighing, and waiting for the server to cooperate this would be the time I grab Charles my Kindle … (yes I named my Kindle Charles … Speed’s Kindle is named Erik – we may have a theme going on here) and play games – damn you Austin – I needed one move!

Sixth: there’s Tea.

Seventh: Posts done … naps now.

So it would seem that Saturday the 20th – was International Sloth Day!

Sylum Blog: Information (Social Media Login)

Update on Social Media Shenanigans on Sylum!

For those who use Social Media to log into the blog, I’ve removed a few of them – specifically: Facebook and Google.  They coding was screwed up after we updated sylumclan.com to https.  Trying to fix it has been nothing but headache after the next, so we got rid of those, and added another.

To login to the Blog you can use the following Social Media Logins: Twitter, WordPress, Yahoo, Instagram & Tumblr

Yes, this does mean I kept my Tumblr – I’m not liking to really use it, but I will keep posts going to it for those who do follow Sylum that way.

For those who want a Facebook group, considering Facebooks Shenanigans and their security issues, I’m having doubts.  But I’m still thinking about it and wanted to know what would you like us to use it for?  Conversation? Posts via Facebook?  Comment below …

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

I know there are those who have been touched by Breast Cancer on this blog.  Some who have fought and survived, others who had family or friends who fought and survived, and those who mourn the loss of a loved one.

Each year at Sylum Vault – we donate 10% of our proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  It’s a little something we can do to give back.

To those who have fought and won – I salute you.

To those who have lost someone – I mourn for your loss.

To all of us – fight and stand strong.

Random Post: Astronomy Day

Astronomy Day!

Astronomy Day is a holiday which is celebrated not once during a calendar year but twice a year – once in spring and once in fall. The springtime celebration falls on the Saturday closest to the first quarter moon (which is around April or May). The fall time celebration of this holiday falls on the Saturday closest to the quarter moon (which is around September or October). The purpose of this holiday is not only to celebrate astronomy and all of its contributions to society but also to bring the general public together with astronomy professionals and groups.
