Great sweep of African history and the life stories as well. I enjoy the quote and the way it play out in their relationship – “I hope you continue to feel that way as we get to know each other. I am a Hunter, and you are a scholar. We have very different … Our perspectives are very different. I am not one of your Victorian maidens lounging in her salon.”
“Yes. I am beginning to realize that. I will try to curb my European sensibilities.”

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I learned a lot about Africa while writing the story. I had to laugh when after writing this story, our local PBS station used Dr. Henry Louis Gates’ series, Africa for their fund raiser.

our local PBS station used Dr. Henry Louis Gates’ series, Africa for their fund raiser – explain please.

Dr. Gates’ series covered many of the things I had researched for the story. If Maryland PBS had their fundraiser a little earlier, it would have saved me hours of reading … Just a bit of irony.

Though I doubt he remembers our family, my grandfathers worked with Dr. Gates’ father, so we’re always interested in his work.
