This is an introduction to Doralee Rhodes

I’ve already adjusted – A Christmas Surprise to reflect her working with Bruce.

Here’s a quicks snippet (likely this will develop into a much bigger story for Advent)

Bruce hated finding a new secretary.   He missed Mrs. Pennyworth, but she retired and was enjoying living in Seattle with her grandkids.  In the past couple of years since she retired, he has gone through four secretaries.   One thought she would be the next Mrs. Bruce Wayne.   The second wanted to be the next rising star, and thought this was her way into Hollywood.  The other may have been a drill sergeant in a past life, Bruce was to set in his ways to have a schedule down to the second.

The last one, he actually liked.  She was smart, extremely organized, happily married, and kept a structured office.   When she told him, she was pregnant, he congratulated her, set up a college fund and made sure their maternity policies were up to date.   He was not surprised she decided not to come back, the kid was cute though.   HR had decided to send in a temp until they can find another one.  He had a feeling this was going to be a long process.

He walked into his office to see a busty blonde woman, who was on the phone politely informing the caller that Mr. Wayne was not available.   She looked up gave him a wink, while stating he wouldn’t be in the office for another hour, and she’ll take a message and let him know they called.

When she hung up the phone, she stood smiling at Bruce.  “Hello, Mr. Wayne.  I’m Doralee Rhodes, the staffing agency sent me over, stating you need a secretary for a few weeks, while they figure out how to wrangle one long enough to stay.”

“Ms. Rhodes.”  He gave her a polite nod.  She was at least a foot shorter than him, though her hair added a few inches.  “Who was on the phone?”

“Mr. Katzenburg.  He wanted to discuss a new project with you.   I held him off for a while, as I noticed from your previous calendars you don’t like meetings or phone calls when you get in.”  She glanced at the computer, taking in his calendar.  “You have a 1pm with Mr. Tholme to discuss the upcoming TV schedule, and then at 2:30 Mrs. White.   There’s a phone meeting with a Mr. Meridius at 4, and dinner reservations at 6 at the Smokehouse.”

“Thank You.”  Bruce took the files he need to look at, noticing the notes on them for specific things he should read.   As he entered his office, he noticed the fresh coffee, bagels and it looked like the room had been cleaned, but his desk had been organized but not in a way that was distrubed.

“Is there anything else you need, Mr. Wayne.”

Bruce sat down at the desk, giving Doralee a smile.  “Not at the moment, Ms. Rhodes.”

She gave him another bright beautiful smile, then closed the door.

He would see how she does for the week, but there was no doubt in his mind, he had found his new secretary.
