It’s actually Quiet Day.
Boy could I use that. I think we all could just have a few moments of blessed quiet.
Jacob Frye sat on top of the roof of the Rookery, legs dangling over the edge as he watched the sunset. In the distance he could hear the typical pub noise from the Rookery, lots of laughter and just everyday chatter. Those were good sounds, compared to the times of fighting and in some times the dying. Well wasn’t he in a mood. He snorted softly, but refused to move.
“What brings you out here?”
He glanced over at his sister, a small smile on his face.
“Just need some quiet.”
Evy nodded taking the seat next to him, in a few moments she leaned against his bulkier frame. They play up on the fact they are the same size, so no one could really tell them apart when they were working. It was during these quiet times, she enjoyed snuggling up to his larger frame, he always made her feel protected despite he knew she could protect herself.
“Football will be over soon.”
He laughed lightly. “Then we’ll have rugby, the World Cup, Olympics … “
“Pays our rent.” She poked him in the side. “But I get it. There are times it’s just too much.”
“Want to go kills som rats?” He asked, as his gaze shifted towards her.
“Let’s make sure they won’t burn the pub first.” She stood and held out her hand to help him up. “Then we rat hunt.”
