Dean stood at the crossroads, his face up toward the night sky. The moon was at its fullest, its light shining down on them.

“This could be considered a violation of our deal.”

Dean looked over at the demon with a half shrug. “Not really. You’re here. I’m here.”

“But we can’t leave.” He pointedly looked around the crossroads wondering how the brothers were able to design a Devils’ Trap that quickly.

“And the operative word there is ‘we’,” Dean smirked. “I can’t leave either.”

“Where’s Sammy?”

“Around.”

The demon sneered as he stepped closer to his prey. “You still thinking little brother is going to save you?”

Dean looked into the cold black eyes. “You better pray he does.”

The Church of St. Jude

Sam stood at the front of the chapel looking up at the large wooden cross.

A simple man died for all, that all might live.

“Amazing how you are worshipped for your sacrifice but others who sacrifice themselves are just thrown into the pits of hell.”

“Samuel Winchester.”

Sam turned slowly, studying the being in front of him.

He was shorter than Sam, then again it was rare for him to find someone taller.

He wore simple jeans and a flannel shirt. His dark hair was slicked back and his deep brown eyes could pierce any man’s soul.

Sam hadn’t been sure if it would work; calling down an Angel was tricky, but then desperate times called for desperate measures. “Not quite what I was expecting.”

“Let me guess, you were thinking of the whole white robes and big wings look?” He smirked. “They went out about a thousand years ago.”

“You know why I called you here.” Sam got straight to the point. He didn’t have time to discuss the fashion trends of Angels over the centuries.

“You will get no help from us,” the Angel answered.

“We’re fighting your fight. We’re the ones on the front line day in and day out; saving innocents from creatures your God made. And you’re going to just toss us to the Hell Hounds?” he asked, not moving from his spot by the altar.

“This isn’t about fighting the good fight. What Dean did was purely selfish.”

“He saved my life!”

“Dean couldn’t live without you so he made a deal with the Devil,” the Angel sneered. “Just because he’s killed a few demons doesn’t mean he gets a ‘get out of jail free’ card.”

“Dude, did you miss the part about him sacrificing his own life for mine?” Sam argued. “We never asked for this. We never wanted it, but we’ve given up our lives, our futures, our loved ones for this fight. How can you expect us to sacrifice everything then get nothing in return?”

“Even if Dean didn’t give up his soul,” the Angel stated flatly, looking pointedly looked at Sam, “he was still destined for Hell Fire.”

Sam gawped at him. “Dean is the most giving person I know. The world has only kept on taking from him, yet he keeps going. So he has a few vices? But under it all his heart is pure and you know it!”

“It’s tainted and it’s tainted you.”

“Tainted…?” Anger boiled up from Sam’s heart.

“Incest is an unforgivable sin.”

Sam laughed. He turned and glared up at the cross. “You can forgive David for having an affair with a married woman, murdering her husband, and then claiming her as his own wife. But you can’t forgive Dean for loving me?”

“That’s different.”

Sam turned back around. “How the FUCK is it different?”

“He’s tainted you.” The Angel stepped up closer to him. “You are a special one Sam.”

“FUCK YOU!” He pushed the Angel back violently.

“You are destined for a greater good, to be reward with an eternity of peace. Do not concern yourself for Dean’s dark soul.”

Sam blinked a few times. “I’m going to heaven? You’re telling me I’m going to heaven while you send Dean to hell? I have Demon blood in me! It’s only ever been Dean’s love that’s kept me grounded.”

“Dean has used you…”

“I’m the one who pushed him against the wall and stole his breath away with a kiss.” Sam growled as he advanced on the Angel. “I’m the one that laid him out on the bed and worshipped his body. I’m the one that fucked him until he screamed my name to the heavens.”

“Once he’s gone you will see your place.” The Angel reached out slowly and touched Sam on the cheek. “You are pure and can be saved.”

Sam pulled away from the touch, a sneer on his face. “I will not waste the time I have left in debating this with you. I will ask one question, and you need to think about the consequences before answering it.”

The Angel held his ground, his gaze never wavering. He gave a slight nod. “You may ask.”

“Will you save Dean?”

“No.”

Sam closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, he knew his decision had been already made. “Then we are done here.”

He walked calmly to the door, ignoring the Angel’s exhortations that he stay.

Dean heard the Impala way before she pulled up to the crossroads.

He glanced over to see Sammy step out of the car.

The demon rolled his eyes as he watched the youngest Winchester walk toward them. “Nothing you can do will…”

Sam ignored the Demon and stepped up to his brother, intent on him and him alone. He reached out and cupped Dean’s face, pulling him into a loving kiss.

“Well that adds a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘brotherly love’.”

“I suggest you keep quiet!” Sam snapped at the Demon, his eyes never leaving Dean’s.

“There is nothing…” The Demon paused in mid sentence when he saw the strange dagger Sam pulled from behind his jacket. “Where did you get that?”

“Amazing what’s on EBay.”

Dean looked up at his brother, his hand reaching to caress his cheek, his heart pounding with anticipation. “I take it things didn’t go well?”

“Refused to compromise,” he shrugged. “I will not live without you.”

“I know Sammy,” Dean whispered. “I couldn’t live without you.”

Sam took Dean’s right hand in his and sliced down his palm, quickly doing the same with his own.

He flung the knife into the center of the crossroads, then took Dean’s hand in his, mixing their blood watching as it dripped onto the dirt. “I’m bound to you as you are bound to me. Heart, body, soul and blood.”

“NO!” The Demon moved toward them, screaming, flailing, trying to stop them. He glanced over to see an Angel on the edge of the Devils’ Trap. “What have you done?”

The Angel shook his head. “I did only as I was told. This is not my doing.” He turned to the brothers but was bound by Heaven and powerless to set foot within the Trap. “Stop this! You can’t do this!”

Sam pulled Dean to him and took his mouth in a powerfully deep kiss.

The Earth shook.

The Heavens trembled.

Hell was opened beneath the soil.

He pulled back and looked into his brother’s eyes. “You and me Dean.”

“Us against the world.”

And the world that was created in seven days trembled and fell in only five.
