A year in Brazil, had him on the HMS Surprise and on his way to Australia.<\/p>\n
He was thankful to be stepping off the boat and onto the dock.\u00a0 \u00a0As he headed down the long wooden path, he found a familiar face at the end of it.\u00a0 \u00a0He paused wanting to hug and hit the man in front of him.\u00a0 He wasn’t told about Lincoln until he arrived at Sylum after US Grant had passed from throat cancer.<\/p>\n
“Mr. President.”\u00a0 He gave the man a hard stared.\u00a0 \u00a0Lincoln was younger looking, the stress of the war gone from his face.\u00a0 \u00a0His smile was still large, and his laugh contagious as he pulled Grant into his arm for a hug.<\/p>\n
“General Grant.”\u00a0 Lincoln patted his shoulders.\u00a0 “Or should I say President Grant.”<\/p>\n
“I wouldn’t had to be President if you didn’t die.”\u00a0 He gave him a half smirk.\u00a0 “I tried sir, I tried hard to put the nation back together as you had intended.”<\/p>\n
Abraham gave him a soft smile, then put an arm around his shoulders to lead him towards the waiting carriage.\u00a0 “I know.\u00a0 You did a fine job.\u00a0 I’m sorry I left you with all of it, but there was no better man for the job but yourself.”<\/p>\n
“I hated every moment.”\u00a0 Grant sighed then narrowed his eyes at the shorter man by the carriage.\u00a0 “Hello Nicolay.”<\/p>\n
“It’s Henry.”\u00a0 He held out his hand, the blue sunglasses still very present.\u00a0 \u00a0“Welcome to Australia.”<\/p>\n
Grant shook it, then glanced back at the ship.\u00a0 \u00a0He had no idea how long it would be before he sees Sherman.\u00a0 They promised not to Bond and Mate until after they ‘died’.\u00a0 \u00a0 He would wait for Sherman, as he had waited for Uly.\u00a0 \u00a0He climbed into the carriage, followed by Lincoln and Henry.\u00a0 “Oh by the way.\u00a0 When we get to the house, I should introduce you to a fellow President Thomas Jefferson.”<\/p>\n
Somehow he was not surprised.<\/p>\n
“Is this becoming a section for dead Presidents?”<\/p>\n
“We have our own wing.” Lincoln laughed.\u00a0 “Once settled, I think we should get you some training.\u00a0 \u00a0You’ve been still for too long, I think.”<\/p>\n
“Aubry already started.”\u00a0 He glanced back before the carriage started off to see Aubry and Stephen chatting with others, he assumed was from Oceania.\u00a0 \u00a0“We have seemed to have left him behind.”<\/p>\n
“Cook has taken care of.” Henry assured him.<\/p>\n
“I’m glad you’ve had some training.\u00a0 We’ll see how you do with an ax.”<\/p>\n
