Today is the day baby Swiss Guards are sworn in.<\/p>\n

Ernesto stood on the edge of the parade route, watching the new Swiss Guard make their way to the flag and make their oath to protect the Vatican and the Pope.\u00a0 He sipped his coffee, gaze moving around the area, looking for any threats. \u00a0 It didn\u2019t matter that the area was filled with Swiss Guards, after everything that has happened in the past fifteen years, he was paranoid and had good reason.<\/p>\n
\u201cIs it me or are they getting younger each year?\u201d\u00a0 Chartrand settled next to him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re just getting old.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWell actually we\u2019re not.\u201d\u00a0 Pierre gave him a smirk, getting both of them to snort at the bad joke.\u00a0 \u201cBut I do feel very old watching the latest batch of baby Swiss Guards.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBaby Swiss Guards that can skewer someone on those pikes.\u201d\u00a0 Oliveira added into the conversation.\u00a0 \u201cHis Holiness seems happy today.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe enjoys watching the ceremony. \u00a0 Something about bright young minds, with dedication we all could learn from.\u201d \u00a0 Ernesto caught a shadow on the roof top, he focused on it, noticing it was his kid running around.\u00a0 \u201cI think he just likes getting out and not having to worry about some idiot Cardinal.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMore like imagining the Guards skewering said Cardinal with their pike.\u201d\u00a0 Carlos tone was completely deadpanned.<\/p>\n
Chartrand snorted.\u00a0 \u201cHe doesn\u2019t have to imagine any Guards to skewering Cardinals, he just needs to let Ernesto off his leash.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAccurate.\u201d\u00a0 Carlos glanced back at the ceremony.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hate you both.\u201d<\/p>\n
The three laughed lightly, then settled into watching the newest recruits swear before God to protect the Man in White.<\/p>\n
