It’s Sherlock Holmes Day – so someone wanted a snippet!<\/span><\/p>\n

Sadly it’s not one from my list!!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Nico glanced at his phone picking it up with a smile.\u00a0 “Is this an emergency or did Watson make you call?”<\/span><\/p>\n

“I can call my dear brother on my own, thank you very much.”\u00a0 Sherlock answered though he seemed distracted.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Well it’s not my birthday or any major holiday, nor is it yours.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“How would you know, you can’t remember your own kids birthday if it wasn’t for Thomas.”\u00a0 The tone was extra snarky.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nico couldn’t help the snort.\u00a0 “So when is Neal’s?”<\/span><\/p>\n

There was a pause, some shuffling a grunt that was likely from Watson.\u00a0 ‘How would I know.\u00a0 He’s your kid.’\u00a0 “I’ll have to check with Thomas.”<\/span><\/p>\n

There was an awkward silence then deep chuckles.\u00a0 “I called cause it’s a very important date!”<\/span><\/p>\n

Nico looked around his desk for any note Thomas would’ve left him to make sure he remembered.\u00a0 \u00a0He sucked at dates, between the different calendars through out his life he gave up tracking.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“You have no idea!”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Fine share your wisdom with me.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s Sherlock Holmes Day!”\u00a0 He sounded so proud.<\/span><\/p>\n

“But the character’s birthday is in January.”<\/span><\/p>\n

There was a long pause. “That you remember.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Because it’s your birthday.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Ahh my dear Nico you do care.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Always have.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Well you suck at showing it.\u00a0 But I do have news.\u00a0 Watson and I are going to spend more time in London.\u00a0 \u00a0Open the old place, have some tea, solve some crimes.”\u00a0 He was positively giddy.\u00a0 “Watson said I had to tell you we would check in with Jake, and Arthur.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Don’t tell Arthur you checked in with Jake first.”\u00a0 Nico couldn’t help the smile, it was good to hear his brother more excited.\u00a0 “How is old 22 1\/2 baker street?”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Someone keeps trying to buy it, not new.”\u00a0 There was some shuffling of paper and muttering.\u00a0 Nico could tell Sherlock was getting distracted.\u00a0 “I keep saying no, might have to send Jake.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“No using the Rooks to scare off buyers.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“That’s what they are for! That’s it!\u00a0 I knew it wasn’t right….”<\/span><\/p>\n

Nico stared down at the phone, noticing the call ended.\u00a0 \u00a0He shook his head, laughing lightly, when he got a text from John.\u00a0 ‘Sorry about that he solved a case off a toothpick.’<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
