Day for all the nurses out there who are the backbone of medical field.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m appreciative of all the nurses who helped me during my hopsital stay.<\/span><\/p>\n

And an old snippet<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Doug Ross hadn\u2019t done an ER shift in ages, he mostly worked in the clinics and traveled out to small villages.\u00a0 That had its own stresses, but the past weekend had reminded him why he didn\u2019t work in the ER. \u00a0 He slumped down against one of the walls, knees pulled up while his arms and head rested on them. \u00a0 He wasn\u2019t sure what time it was, had fluid of all types stained in his scrubs, and it was possible he was bleeding from a bite mark on his thigh.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He made a mental note to contact Carol and tell her how awesome she was being a nurse.\u00a0 Even though she had also stopped working in the ER and ran clinics, there were times clinics could become an ER, depending on the situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDoctor.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Doug looked up and smiled at the head nurse.\u00a0 She was a woman who had been in the ER for over twenty years and knew were all the extra supplies were stashed, what residents were fucking in which closet, and all the hiding places the doctors had.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMaria.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She handed him a to-go cup.\u00a0 \u201cDrink this, then will get you coffee.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She was also a Chosen One, who put up with the annoying Vampires that came through her ER. \u00a0 She complains about patching up Spike weekly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ross downed the blood, then handed it back to her.\u00a0 \u201cJust fill it up, black.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for being here today.\u00a0 It was a bad day.\u201d\u00a0 There had been shooting victims, a multiple car crash, and one child abuse case that had Ross loosing his cool.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThank you.\u201d\u00a0 He gave her a dazzling smile. \u201cI make this look good, you make sure I make it look good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With a snort mixed in with laughter she went down the hall to get some coffee, then came back and settled next to him.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s days like this I wonder why I do it.\u201d\u00a0 Ross coughed at the strength of the coffee but still drank half of it down.\u00a0 \u201cThen I see that.\u201d\u00a0 They looked over to see new parents cooing over their newborn, the couple was waiting for a room to make sure the family was well enough to go home.\u00a0 \u201cAnd realize it\u2019s worth it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s people like you who keep us going.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI know.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Doug laughed as the two bumped shoulders.\u00a0 \u201cHow about I get you some lousy food from the cafeteria \u2026\u201d\u00a0 There was sounds of an ambulance, followed by paramedics and cops screaming.\u00a0 \u201cNever mind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
