<\/span><\/p>\n

Thomas Sawyer stood in his families living room, feeling completely detached.<\/span><\/p>\n

He had no idea who these people where.\u00a0 Oh, he knew they were his parents, his siblings, hell even the siblings partners, but he had no idea who these people were.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two years ago he was right at home.\u00a0 \u00a0Would’ve just leaned up against the counter, sipped a beer, laughing over ‘jokes’, and not a care of inappropriateness.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now he stared at his family in slight horror.\u00a0 \u00a0How could they even think these things, let alone laugh about them.\u00a0 It was wrong on so many levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Thomas you seem distracted.”\u00a0 His mother smiled at him, showing little concern for him, only the fact he wasn’t doing a his job being a good son.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I’m fine.”\u00a0 He gave her a tight smile.<\/span><\/p>\n

“You’ve been distant since you came back from that foreign place.”\u00a0 She had her hands on her hips giving him the ‘I’m mom and I know best look’.<\/span><\/p>\n

“South Africa.”\u00a0 Thomas\u00a0 closed his eyes for a moment trying not to sigh.\u00a0 “I was in South Africa.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Does it matter, that whole place is uncivilized.”\u00a0 She sauntered off, snapping her fingers at him to follow.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He shook his head before turning to make his way to his room.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His bags were already packed, with a one way plane ticket back to Johannesburg.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He had been an arrogant racists prick, yet the Clan had still taken him in, because of Quarterman.\u00a0 \u00a0His Mate.\u00a0 And boy was he not worthy of him.\u00a0 But he was starting to understand.\u00a0 And well he didn’t like himself very much, but Owen pointed out he didn’t have to be that person.\u00a0 So that’s what he has been working to change.\u00a0 \u00a0He left a letter to Alan, stated that he needed to be a better person for himself first before he could even think about being a better person for him.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But he hadn’t realized how hard it would be, just being back in Texas.\u00a0 It was like he suddenly saw through the thin layer of politeness to the dirty sicking reality of prejudice in all forms.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Boy where are you going?”\u00a0 His father called out, a tone indicating he wasn’t to be argued with.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Home.”\u00a0 He said without thinking dropping his one packed bag, and backpack by the front door.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“You are home son.”\u00a0 His mother frowned, glancing at her husband.\u00a0 “You must be tired from your trip.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Not really.”\u00a0 Thomas glanced over to see his whole family staring at him.\u00a0 All so blinded by their own false truths.\u00a0 “Look I’m just going to leave, and we don’t have to have this conversation…”<\/span><\/p>\n

“What conversation?”\u00a0 His oldest brother had his hands on his hips, a spittin’ image of their father.<\/span><\/p>\n

“That y’all are a bunch of racist, sexists, homophobic assholes.”\u00a0 Thomas gave them a charming smile.\u00a0 “I’ve sat down here for the past three hours, and all I’ve heard from you is how evil those illegals are and stealing our jobs.\u00a0 The gays are destroying society.\u00a0 The blacks are nothing but thugs and hurting poor business owners with their riots.\u00a0 And god damn those women for being whores and wanting to control their own bodies.\u00a0 So my questions to you.\u00a0 What jobs?\u00a0 What jobs are they stealing?\u00a0 Cause last I checked you were paying them to mow your damn lawn, for pennies on the dollar.\u00a0 And I’m sorry a same sex couple getting married doesn’t change your pathetic excuse of a marriage, especially considering you’re both fucking around on the other.\u00a0 And you know maybe if you stop shooting innocent people, they would stop rioting.\u00a0 And lastly if you don’t have a vagina you don’t get to tell someone who does how to use it.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Shut your mouth boy!”\u00a0 His father stepped up to him hand raised.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Go ahead dad hit me.\u00a0 Like you’ve always done when someone challenges your manliness.”\u00a0 He sighed rubbing a hand over his face.\u00a0 \u00a0When he gets back to the Clan he’s apologizing to EVERYONE, even the animals including Tiny Terror for being a dick.\u00a0 God how did even think like that.\u00a0 “I’m sorry…”<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s okay dear we understand those Africans …”<\/span><\/p>\n

“No, I’m sorry you’re all to blinded by your own prejudice that you don’t see how much of the world you’re missing.”\u00a0 He grabbed his cowboy hat and headed for the door.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“You leave never come back.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Panic ripped through him.\u00a0 No money.\u00a0 No insurance.\u00a0 No backup plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the didn’t need it.<\/span><\/p>\n

“What got into you bro, fall for African chick.\u00a0 Suddenly you’re a flower hugging liberal.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Actually it was some African dick, but okay.”\u00a0 He smirked slipped his hat on and tipped it in farewell.\u00a0 Before his dad could carry out his threat, he grabbed the bags and was out the door.\u00a0 The taxi was already waiting as he grabbed his bags.\u00a0 He wondered if he could still be a cowboy in Africa?<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
