Not sure if many had seen the news about this particular event.

But, they found the Endurance. And it’s amazing!

The Endurance

And there was no way we could pass this moment without a Sylum Snippet

It had been a very long journey,

Much speculation. Calculations. And sheer dumb luck.

Pretty much how the first expedition went down.

Shackleton stood on the deck of the ice cutter glancing over the ocean of ice. Max was settled next to his leg, feeling his anxiety. “You want to go run don’t you?”

“Don’t encourage him.” Jerry chuckled sliding next to his Mate. “Though it does look like fun.”

“Both of you are insane.” Ernest shook his head.

Jerry just gave him a look. “Sure honey. We’re the crazy ones. Where’s Hurley I’m sure he would have a few things to say.”

“He’s Mated to a Crab Fisherman.”

Jerry glanced down the deck to see Hurley taking photos, while James was holding onto his belt so he wouldn’t fall over the side. “Never mind he’s as insane as you are.”

“Sir.” One of the scientists came onto the deck. “You’ll want to see this.”

Shackleton followed the young man down below where all the equipment was stored. When he had heard there was an expedition to find the Endurance, he made sure to get himself involved. For the past few years, they had come down to the Antarctic in search of the doomed ship. He had made sure the team of scientist were fully funded, and could continue on their search without worry about grants or trying to raise funds. It really hadn’t shocked him, how many people either didn’t know about his expedition more concerned with Scott’s or didn’t care. So many had argued it was a waste of time and money, that no one cared about some stupid ship.

“Ah Ernest, just in time. Since you’ve put so much time and have supported us. We figured you deserved to be here to see this.” The leader of the expedition smiled at him as he clicked on the over heard monitor. “We found her.”

""

Shackleton stared at the hull of his ship.

There she was, looking just as he left her all those years ago.

It was suddenly overwhelming. He hit his knees, tears flowing down his cheeks. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her. She was still beautiful.

“Sir?”

“Ernest.” Jerry settled next to his Mate, taking his hand as Max wiggled to get between them and lick Shackleton’s face.

“Damn it they actually did it.” Hurley stared at the monitor in shock. “Shit she looks intacted. I mean fully, like went under the ice yesterday.”

The lead got up from his seat, a bit concerned over the guests reaction. He knew they were dedicated to finding the Endurance, and suspected they had connection to the ship, but never asked. “Is everything alright?”

Ernest stood up, gave the head scientist a small smile. “Let me introduce myself. My name is Ernest Shackleton. This is my friend and photographer Frank Hurley.”

He glanced to the monitor, then back at the two men. “Oh you’ve got to tell me everything.”
