Roland<\/a> was born into slavery, on a plantation in South Carolina. \u00a0When the war broke out between the states, his father took the advantage and fled with him and his mother. \u00a0He found himself out west, moving from town to town. \u00a0His mother had taught him how to read, and his father taught him how to survive.<\/span><\/p>\nHe learned quickly to use a gun, became known for his natural skills.<\/span><\/p>\nAnd when a posse came for him, he ran.<\/span><\/p>\nRoland ended up in Australia, if you ask him how, he really couldn\u2019t tell you. \u00a0He used his skills to help those he could, and in time found himself protecting the aborigines and those who were being pushed out of their lands by wealthy men with power.<\/span><\/p>\nHe kept to his father\u2019s code:<\/span><\/p>\nI do not aim with my hand;<\/span>
