Ironically still couldn’t quite make this work for the long list I have!! *sighs*<\/p>\n
He loved making paper airplanes as a kid.\u00a0 Would piss his dad off to no end, wasting expensive school paper to play airplane.\u00a0 In time he learned to use his old tests and book reports.\u00a0 \u00a0He really never cared about school, not at first, all he wanted to do was fly.<\/p>\n
Then he learned what it took to just fly a small one engine plane, let alone the book smarts needed to fly a jet.\u00a0 So he buckled down in school, and graduated with honors.<\/p>\n
Didn’t stop him from making his tests and book reports into paper airplanes.\u00a0 \u00a0Come to find out it drove his Navy Instructors just as batshit as his high school teachers.\u00a0 The only one who seemed impressed was Speed, but then he threatened his life if he ever used a page from a book … geek.<\/p>\n
Talented, smart, snarky asshole … geek.<\/p>\n
Now he was the one behind the front desk.\u00a0 How the hell they let him teach impressionable idiots he had no idea.\u00a0 He was, will always be, more comfortable in the cockpit, but at the moment he was technically aging out, so instructor it was until he could die and come back as his illegitimate kid or something.<\/p>\n
“Sir.”<\/p>\n
Maverick ignored the hothead, who reminded him way to much of himself.\u00a0 He swore the laughter he was hearing was Speed mocking him.\u00a0 He made the last fold, then stood from his desk, holding up the paper airplane.<\/p>\n
Maverick tossed the plane towards the students watching as it sailed through the air, then expertly landed on the front desk.\u00a0 “Right now you’re all sitting there wondering why I just made a paper airplane and let it fly.\u00a0 Trying to figure out if this was some sort of test, to see if your worthy to fly jets.”<\/p>\n
Everyone tried so hard not to squirm.<\/p>\n
“Well hate to tell you this, but not everything is a philosophy lesson or a test.\u00a0 It’s National Paper Airplane Day.\u00a0 Thought it was fitting considering I’ll teaching a few of you how to fly jets.”<\/p>\n
“A few, sir?”\u00a0 One was bold enough to ask.<\/p>\n
