Thomas Anderson<\/a> was born in 1890 to John and Michelle Anderson. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and lost his parents to a house fire in 1895 while he was off visiting relatives. His uncle, unable to care for him along with his own seven children, sent him to live with his grandparents in London. He enlisted in the military in 1914 and was part of the African theatre in World War I.
