“How long has he been in there?”\u00a0 Cook peaked around the corner into the kitchen.\u00a0 Maximilian was moving with easy in the kitchen, humming away as he made some of the most extraordinary chocolates.<\/p>\n

“Since two this morning.”\u00a0 Bob sipped his coffee, settled at the dining room table, making sure no one disturbs his Mate.\u00a0 “It’s a big day, so he’s make delicious treats – do not fuck this up.”<\/p>\n

“Dude.”\u00a0 James Cook turned and looked at the Clan Psychologist. “I’m not that stupid.\u00a0 Where’s Frost?”<\/p>\n

“Which one?”<\/p>\n

“Either.”\u00a0 Though he knew Emma wouldn’t get near the Chocolatier while he was baking mainly not to get any of the chocolate on her sharp white outfits.\u00a0 “Mainly Jack.”<\/p>\n

“He’s out with Bunny … I mean Robert.\u00a0 Now he has me calling him that!”\u00a0 Anderson sighed, folding his newspaper before running his hands through his white hair.\u00a0 “He promised to leave Max alone, as long as he got chocolate Easter Eggs.”<\/p>\n

“Is he making chocolate Easter Eggs?”\u00a0 Cook asked with mild curiosity.<\/p>\n

“Yes.”<\/p>\n

“So why is it we get chocolaty goodness now, and not at say Easter or Christmas?”\u00a0 He had always wondered but wasn’t brave enough to ask his Clan Leader, in fear of loosing said chocolaty goodness.<\/p>\n

“Because he likes to keep us on our toes.”\u00a0 Thomas Jefferson stalked into the dining room, going straight for the coffee pot.\u00a0 He adored the staff being smart enough to put out foods and drinks out so they wouldn’t starve, while the kitchen was commandeered.\u00a0 “Besides he likes to celebrate the odd holidays.”<\/p>\n

“Like Australian Day.”\u00a0\u00a0Windradyne rolled his eyes at the very idea that there was an Australian Day, but he had given up on that aspect for a while, especially on the fact though the Clan celebrates Max had taken to in-cooperating Aboriginal traditions and festivals. “Though if this is one of the few days we get his chocolate, I’m okay with it.”<\/p>\n

“How’s the case going?” Thomas asked sitting across from the fellow lawyer.<\/p>\n

“Oh don’t get me started, but we may actually have a foot in the door this time.\u00a0 We’re getting a trial, instead of being dismissed.\u00a0 So I’m counting that as a win.\u00a0 Ten years ago, it wouldn’t even been contemplated so…”<\/p>\n

“Baby steps.”\u00a0 Jefferson handed over some information he had pulled from his own research.\u00a0 “Believe me I would change a lot of things I wrote if I knew modern people would be this stupid.”<\/p>\n

“We can’t fight history we can only fight for the future.”\u00a0\u00a0Windradyne gave him a pointed look, the two had a lot discussion about race, religion and governments.<\/p>\n

“Amen.”\u00a0 Bob held up his coffee as a salute.\u00a0 “Now you all get to be the lucky ones…”<\/p>\n

Just then Max came out of the kitchen with chocolate covered strawberries, some chocolate stuffed croissants, and chocolate Easter Eggs.<\/p>\n

“I love Australia Day.”\u00a0 Cook grabbed the croissant, and settled into his seat nibbling away.<\/p>\n

“Fuck you.”\u00a0\u00a0Windradyne hit him in the shoulder, then grabbed two strawberries and an Easter Egg.<\/p>\n

Cook just gave him a wink.\u00a0 “I got the boat set up in the harbor when you want to bring the kids over for a tour.”<\/p>\n

“I’ll talk to the club, I think they would enjoy learning the workings of an old Navel Vessel.” He made a note to talk to the teachers who ran to the boys and girls club, about setting up the field trip.\u00a0 “So when does the festivities start?”<\/p>\n

“Twoish.” Bob answered.\u00a0 “Robert is getting the bbq ready, and Jack is promosing to not freeze anything.”<\/p>\n

“How many kids?”<\/p>\n

“Twice as many than last year.”\u00a0 Cook smiled brightly.\u00a0 “We reached out to all the neighborhoods, group homes, orphanages, schools … Max wanted everyone to have a good time.”<\/p>\n

“So we’ve got hundreds of kids that will be hyped on chocolate, and we’re going to teach them the history of Australia, how it came about, and what was here before that.”\u00a0 Jefferson looked around the table.\u00a0 “This is going to be fun.”<\/p>\n

“You love every moment of it.”\u00a0 Eleanor walked in and kissed the top of his head.\u00a0 “It will be fun.”<\/p>\n

“It will be a nightmare, but at least chocolate.”\u00a0 He held up a chocolate Easter Egg and swallowed it down.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
